I meant to say that from in the small pool of generals from which to select one, Trump was working against the clock and was stuck with one of them. What can he do but wait until McMasters outs himself? Who will replace him?

Agreeing with the President would be nice, but sometimes one has to do, what' s right for the country, even thou is looking like betrayal to the president.
You see, the President is not always right, and that has to be balanced with other cool and leveled thinking heads. Otherwise we can appoint a bunch of well trained "YES" answering monkeys, and everybody will be satisfied.
