The headline on a press release put out by Schumer and Gillibrand yesterday said: Schumer, Gillibrand Announce U.S. Department of Agriculture Has Agreed to Purchase $18 Million in Surplus Concord Grape Juice to Stabilize Prices For Grape Growers in Upstate New York.
The USDAs decision to purchase surplus Concord grapes is a major victory for New York growers and individuals across the state receiving nutrition assistance, said Senator Schumer. More juice sales mean more profit for our growers in Western New York, Central New York and the Finger Lakes as well as increased access to healthier foods for those in need. Todays announcement is good news for every grape-grower in New York.
Chuckies press release is here:
Central Planning by 1,000 subsidies...
18 million dollars. 280 growers. So each grower gets a 60,000+ subsidy.
As a result I'm able to support reasonable steps taken by government to support hard working, efficient farmers.
Can you say......SUGAR....
Grape boycott in the 60’s. Caesar Chavez and United Farmworkers. The Gov’t bought the grapes and sent them to Viet Nam. Way too many to consume.
Isn’t this just GREAT San Fran Nan owns huge vineyards!! I HATE THESE BASTARDS!!!
Chuck, how much money did Obama give to Iran?
Sec. Perdue’s letter to Schmuck:
“F—K YOU!!!”
This is why folks vote for Schumer. He knows how to shake the money tree. But I can assure you that this was a tat for tat.
Wonder if it is a coincidence Pelosi owns a vineyard?
Yep.
All made possible because we have a totally unbacked, fiat currency, issued by a central planning entity, at manipulated interest rates.
It means unlimited debt, and unlimited money for government to spend, and unlimited power for those who control the levers of banking and government.
What a farce....affordable food programs for New Yorkers in need!!!! They already said there’s no shortage (a surplus)so what’s the big deal? I do believe people can survive if they don’t get “grape juice” - for whatever reason...Can’t tell you the last time I bought grape juice... “We help the grape growers now and the grape growers help us in our reelection.”
“”Gillibrand also pushed the $18 million subsidy as a healthy food program.
This additional USDA funding will support our upstate New York grape growers and is a key step towards ensuring competitiveness while stabilizing prices for farmers, Sen. Gillibrand said in the release. Purchasing the surplus juice for our nutritional assistance programs across the state reaffirms our commitment to essential healthy affordable food programs for New Yorkers in need.””
Climate change causes HUGE grape yields.
