It’s unclear how much of an effect an EMP will have on electronics not plugged in or powered in any way. Even a desktop computer has a small amount of current flowing through it when unplugged due to the little coin battery to maintain the time. Laptops of course have their onboard battery. It’s thought that the electric cord to devices will actually absorb and relay the pulse to the the inner circuits of devices.
That’s the thing; we really don’t know until it actually happens. It may turn out to only affect unshielded powered on devices.

And anyhow let’s get our eyes back on the ball. It’s NK that foremost needs to be squashed here. Not even China. You’ll far sooner see gospel wedge itself into China than NK as they both stand. The nuke side is God’s way of getting our attention. Nobody here is nervous about China’s nukes. Why would it nuke a great customer? China is wiser in that area. Yep, that was the first thing I did, found a good site to study from then found a local ham radio club who would give me the test. Within a month I had my technician license; the lowest of the 3 levels but all I really need. I have no interest in buying all that expensive equipment for long distance comm’s. I’ll leave that to those who are into it as a hobby. That isn’t me. It’s a tool; that’s all.
