What is ironic is that Guevara, despite his mother's maternal Irish surname, has minimal Irish ancestry. His Lynch ancestor arrived in what would become Argentina in the 1740s, and married into local Spanish families, as did his children and descendants. Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Jimmy Carter have more claim to Irish ancestry than did Guevara.
