Liberals don’t read the constitution, they just ‘know’ what it says. As with everything else, it’s all about feelings. Facts just get in the way.

Gore and the dems were betting on the Electoral College to win in 2000 when they tried to cheat in Florida.

But...........since killary lost, they want to get rid of it.

Perez is reading the same revised history book that taught students in Wisconsin that Lincoln owned slaves.

“Mrs. Clinton made the strategic decision to ignore Wisconsin and Michigan, and put a weak effort in Pennsylvania ... paying the price.”

I hear this inadvertant but annoying meme all the time, as if had she NOT ignored Wisconsin and Michigan and this and that, she would have won.

Which is a big lie given that she was permanently exhausted even with less a rally per week and each of her rally could barely fill half a high school gymnasium.

Hiliary lost because she is dumb, crooked and unfit, period. Even the lying media, with their anti-trump and pro-clinton 24/7 massive coverage could not save her, so no amount of her “effort” (whatever that means) in those states would change anything.

It’s amazing how many people here post interpretations of how the Constitution applies to “running for President”, primaries, conventions, nominations, and Presidential elections.

All of those things could disappear tomorrow and the Constitution would not be disturbed in the slightest.

Democrats want a state compact where enough states to exceed the required 270 electoral votes to elect the president form a state compact where they agree to appoint electors that mirror the national popular vote, regardless of how the individual state votes, therefore making the electoral college simply a reflection of the popular vote.

Constitution, Article I, Section 10:

3: No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

She WAS spending time in California, so she could have spent time in WI or MI. I don't know if it would have made a difference, it WAS close. She probably stole New Hampshire through same day registration. I was only pointing out that candidates are obliged to structure their campaigns around electoral votes. You are right that she didn't have enough in the tank to spend time in WI/MI AND PA, and that it might not have made a difference. They could have easily spent $$$ on GOTV and fraud support efforts, and they didn't do enough from their perspective.

“Perez has previously stated that President Donald Trump “didn’t win” last November’s election because Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, but he has never denied the fact that it is part of the Constitution.”

The stupid, it hurts bad.

I use this sports analogy for people in this debate

The Red Sox out hit the Yankees 7-4 but lost the game 3-2.

She also didn’t go to those states. Instead of taking a week and hitting all three states, even early in the campaign, Hillary did what every Democrat does when the fix is in. They phone it in. That’s what Obama did in 2012 with Romney, as witnessed by the debates.

Hillary thought she had the rust belt in the bag and decided to take on Trump in red states and expand her popular vote in California so she could claim she won that and turn the electoral college on its head.

Neither worked, proving once again that the smartest woman in the world is only as smart as her dumbest employee.

Ignorant turd.

The Electoral College is a process, not a place. The founding fathers established it in the Constitution as a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens.

The Electoral College process consists of the selection of the electors, the meeting of the electors where they vote for President and Vice President, and the counting of the electoral votes by Congress.

The Electoral College consists of 538 electors. A majority of 270 electoral votes is required to elect the President. Your state’s entitled allotment of electors equals the number of members in its Congressional delegation: one for each member in the House of Representatives plus two for your Senators. Read more about the allocation of electoral votes.

Under the 23rd Amendment of the Constitution, the District of Columbia is allocated 3 electors and treated like a state for purposes of the Electoral College. For this reason, in the following discussion, the word “state” also refers to the District of Columbia.

Each candidate running for President in your state has his or her own group of electors. The electors are generally chosen by the candidate’s political party, but state laws vary on how the electors are selected and what their responsibilities are. Read more about the qualifications of the Electors and restrictions on who the Electors may vote for.

The presidential election is held every four years on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. You help choose your state’s electors when you vote for President because when you vote for your candidate you are actually voting for your candidate’s electors.

Most states have a “winner-take-all” system that awards all electors to the winning presidential candidate. However, Maine and Nebraska each have a variation of “proportional representation.” Read more about the allocation of Electors among the states and try to predict the outcome of the Electoral College vote.

After the presidential election, your governor prepares a “Certificate of Ascertainment” listing all of the candidates who ran for President in your state along with the names of their respective electors. The Certificate of Ascertainment also declares the winning presidential candidate in your state and shows which electors will represent your state at the meeting of the electors in December of the election year. Your stateÂ’s Certificates of Ascertainments are sent to the Congress and the National Archives as part of the official records of the presidential election. See the key dates for the 2016 election and information about the roles and responsibilities of state officials, the Office of the Federal Register and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and the Congress in the Electoral College process.

The meeting of the electors takes place on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December after the presidential election. The electors meet in their respective states, where they cast their votes for President and Vice President on separate ballots. Your state’s electors’ votes are recorded on a “Certificate of Vote,” which is prepared at the meeting by the electors. Your state’s Certificates of Votes are sent to the Congress and the National Archives as part of the official records of the presidential election. See the key dates for the 2016 election and information about the roles and responsibilities of state officials and the Congress in the Electoral College process.

Each state’s electoral votes are counted in a joint session of Congress on the 6th of January in the year following the meeting of the electors. Members of the House and Senate meet in the House chamber to conduct the official tally of electoral votes. See the key dates for the 2016 election and information about the role and responsibilities of Congress in the Electoral College process.

The Vice President, as President of the Senate, presides over the count and announces the results of the vote. The President of the Senate then declares which persons, if any, have been elected President and Vice President of the United States.

The President-Elect takes the oath of office and is sworn in as President of the United States on January 20th in the year following the Presidential election.

Reagan reminded us that the Constitution is not an impediment to the American way of life - it's the reason we have it.

Dims are always saying it's an impediment to what they want to do so they do their best to ignore and pervert it.

Electoral College as a bulwark against fraudulent voting,

Never thought of that but you are right. Good point.

“It is like the world series. You win the series if, and only if, you win the most games. It doesn’t matter how many runs you score.”

Thanks - the “world series” example is the best one I’ve yet seen that the common man could understand.

Games 1, 2, & 3 could be a blowout with the winning team scoring 20 more runs than their opponent in each game. But if they lose the rest of the games 1-0, they lose the series - even though they’ve scored > 55 more runs.

After Trump is done packing the courts, you won’t have to worry about them for 50 years.

That explains a lot.

It sure does.

That people spend their entire careers in Washington, DC, rising to lofty positions of power in the government, having never once READ the US Constitution.

This IS the entire problem.

Exactly. There is no national popular vote. The vote is by the states.
