Yes, a one-hour episode. It still appears on cable sometimes. The Alfred Hitchcock Hour airs on MeTV these days.
Yes, I remember now. I just looked it up to refresh my memory. It was probably the first “McGuffin” I encountered.
I think that the TV ads for the show showed the Jar interspersed with the Monkey’s Paw, which I remember was a modernization of the story, and a woman screaming. The show was enough to give a kid the creeps, especially with the tympani interludes.
It’s a shame that Netflix has removed Alfred Hitchcock Presents from its selections. I didn’t get to watch very many of them while it was still available. I’ll have to break down and try to find the DVDs like my son-in-law did.
