Harrison Ford has always been my ideal of the ultimate “scientist.”

No, no, no. Meryl Streep. She knows all about Alar and such.

The only problem we have in this country is Truth, Honesty, Decency, Morality, and Virtue. You know Harrison, all those things that people who live in make believe world and work in Hollywood are DEAD SET AGAINST, instead opting for Moral relativism, debauchery, and deviates.

About that Science, wanna talk transgenderism??

There is more truth there than you know. By default the majority of actors don’t have any Real Life Experience, everything they know and have ever done revolves around living in make believe world. They have no Soul.

Democrats can call me after they quit spending inordinate amounts of money to thwart the consequences of natural selection.

If they think science is the end all, then they need to act consistently with that belief.

I just thank them for using the label and tell them I am used to it. They do not understand that calling me a “hater” undermines whatever credibility that they might have had. It indicates a “religious” like zeal in something that is not recognized as a religion.

Fireman15, this reposting of this absurd MYTH and amateur psychological analysis of Apple users is exactly the kind of insulting attitude you exude in your responses in Apple threads. Your posts absolutely drip of your superior opinion and your links do the same in their cherry picked selection of data. This last one is a case in point: an obscure doctoral dissertation found in a self-published vanity venue, published under her faculty advisor's name as principle? Really?

The Cult of Macintosh

Russell Belk & Gülnur Tumbat
Pages 205-217 | Published online: 19 Aug 2006

Abstract

In this study, we introduce the notion of a brand cult in an effort to better understand the extreme devotion consumers have toward certain brands. We use historical images plus interviews and observations with current Macintosh computer users to explore the cultic quasi‐religious aspects of this consumption. We find several key sustaining myths, including a creation myth, a messianic myth, a satanic myth, and a resurrection myth. The accompanying video offers an account of what it means when a brand becomes a religion to its true believers.

After decades of this kind of TRIPE, we Apple users are damned tired of being denigrated and insulted by the majority PC user community and now the majority Android users for not being sheep and going along with the majorities and choosing the default systems of Windows and Android that users of those operating systems find "good enough" and are willing to put up with their failings. Most of us have been there and done that, believe it or not.

Just because these insults to Apple users are couched in non-profanity does not make it better. YOU are one who slings these insults, despite your claims of being a user, who does it frequently.

Your decision to constantly educate us Apple users about our misguided choices and mis-understanding of Apple history, something we actually experienced and paid attention to, based on your rather erroneous grasp of history compels you to invade (troll) Apple threads and post these claims, such as Apple has been "pretending" to be the victim of idea theft despite all proof showing it actually has occurred and been proved to be so in court (please, provide your proof that Apple has "pretended" such a thing throughout its history with out legitimate cause), that have long been proved false.

Such assertions and claims make us not believe your further contentions of being an Apple hardware user at all—you've never said exactly what hardware you use—because that is a frequent claim of those who troll these threads to attempt to give themselves more authority, but their user contentions always fail to hold water with us because they give themselves away with false to fact claims of problems that do not ring true with our experiences and historical knowledge. You, fireman15, fall into that category.

We are not "denying" any "mythological reality," fireman15. We are denying your clams of superior facts. Your assertions that it is mythological is a logical fallacy called "begging the question. You are asserting your conclusion is true to prove your conclusion.

Your claims are never the reality of what existed for what you are attempting to claim. Things like trying to equate a single touch, resistive screen with a stylus which can be easily lost as being the user interface equal of the newer, multitouch capacitance screen with accurate finger input. . . or that its creation was a simple, easy matter for anyone, despite all evidence to the contrary, to move from multi-touch opaque separate pads to a one-to-one-synched transparent multi-touch screen on a mobile device. Your off hand dismissal of everything that Apple invented to bring the iPhone to the table, is counter to every other expert in the field who rightly gives Apple the credit. You, on the other hand, stretch any crumb of information from any source you can cherry pick Google—despite it having later been debunked, which you don't bother to find or read, such as this dissertation—to disparage what Apple accomplished as mere marketing, promulgating the myths pushed by the TWO to THREE YEAR LATER actual copiers of Apple's designs.

People who subscribe to the idea that Mac users are members of a cult cannot conceive of people who select a product merely because it provides a better user experience than the competition. They, as this dissertation asserts, believe that people can only be swayed by superior marketing, convincing people this product is only superior because of some coolness or it makes the user superior to users of other products through the ignorance of the user of those other products.

Those asserters of the cult status fail to grasp that Mac users most often are actually more experienced in using other platforms than the users of non-Macs, and have made their choice to use an Apple Mac from a superior experiential knowledge rather than the supposed ignorance you keep accusing me and others of possessing when you are actually the one who has it.

First of all, I apologize for allowing myself to be hijacked by a thread troll who takes every opportunity to slam Apple users and me in particular, who had no business injecting the topic into this thread.

To return to the topic of this thread—Science is not about coming to a consensus as the Global Warming or Climate Change charlatans contend.

99.999999% of all scientists in the world could agree with some particular theory or hypothesis, and all evidence could point to it being a LAW of science. . . but if one fact arose that falsified all of that, then that theory, hypothesis, and even a LAW must be thrown out and a new theory, hypothesis, and even a law that encompasses that new fact must be found the includes the new observed fact. One does not sweep the inconvenient fact under the carpet so one can continue believing in the now proved wrong, older orthodoxy. . . but that is what modern science has become in many fields.

Climate Change is just one, the tip, of the no longer "disciplines" in the iceberg of politicized science. From Climate Change "science" to Cosmology to Archaeology to Astronomy to Egyptology to Paleontology, politicized "science" has been rearing its ugly head as orthodoxy has quashed any new idea that challenges the old way of thinking. . . ideas that would challenge the old guard and require text books to be rewritten.

A lot of this has been paralleling the growth of government funding of science. Government funding is the ultimate orthodox support mechanism. The committees that choose who get funding are staffed by people who are hidebound and tied to the orthodoxy by chains and hawsers covered in mold. They are the last people to take any chances on anything that would challenge the well established thinking. Those who might upset the status quo are unlikely to get funded for research.

Publication and peer-review of articles that challenge orthodox views is also extremely difficult when challenging consensus science when consensus "scientists do the peer-review based on the fact it challenges the consensus, not on the merits of the evidence or actual logic or scientific work presented in the article. It is especially difficult when "scientific" or "professional" journals refuse to even accept papers that do not comport to currently accepted orthodoxy in the opinion of the editors so they never get submitted for peer-review, thus being relegated to obscure less prestigious, non-peer-reviewed journals, if published at all.

Closed minds, orthodox science that becomes indistinguishable from religious dogma, all result in destroying the actual practice of true science.

... says the man who made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs ...

Well, that might actually mean something if the ship they were using FOLDS space/time and by so doing brings a longer distance into a shorter distance as part of their means of Faster Than Light star travel. . . and by perhaps the normal distance to Kessel is 48 parsecs. . . and Solo was able to fold it to 11?

Nah, the screen writer just didn't know what he was talking about. . .

Nah, the screen writer just didn't know what he was talking about. . .

That's one version. The other theory is that George Lucas knew it was a mistake all along but just liked the sound of it.

But there are a lot of fans out there who come up with complicated black hole, space-bending theories designed to make sense of a silly, wrong-headed line.

Swordmaker, sorry for ticking you off again. May the Good Lord bless both you and all the global warmists. May he help you find a cause that is truly supported by facts and history. Maybe they will be able to do something worthwhile and you will be able to stop wasting all of your time and energy arguing about the superiority of the 1st iphone or the predatory actions of Apples army of lawyers. Life is too short my friend.
