How do you deal with the sludge on the bottom?

When there's no more coffee to pour, I just rinse it out in the sink, and let the coffee grounds from the bottom go down the garbage disposal. No problem at all. Fast and easy. And once in a while, I'll put it in the dishwasher.

I suppose if I didn't have a garbage disposal, rinsing out the grounds from the bottom would be a litte more challenging. Maybe I'd fill it with water, swish it around, and then put a coffee filter or folded paper towel over the drain. That way the water would pour off, and the grounds would be captured for dumping into the garbage.

I don’t typically have sludge at the bottom of the cup, except for the very last pour of coffee from the very bottom of the French press.

As soon as I encounter any grounds, I spit them out, pour what’s left in the cup down the sink, and rinse out the French press prior to making another fresh round of coffee.
