I am sure at times they ate all of that and more. When the option is to starve it is surprising what people will eat. I am sure the same people that had to eat such things would be laughing at people eating them because they did.

The thing is people eat what is available and when it is not available for whatever reason they still must eat. To ignore the idea that they also ate pretty tasty things like buffalo, deer, wild roots and berries, some even grew crops is liberal craziness. Pretty sure people did not plan to eat things like maggots and tree bark...and they would not celebrate the idea of doing so I am sure.

“America is not the embodiment of hope, but the abandonment of one kind of hope in return for another. America is the spirit of creative destruction, selecting immigrants willing to turn their back on the tragedy of their own failing culture in return for a new start. Its creative success is so enormous that its global influence hastens the decline of other cultures. For those on the destruction side of the trade, America is a monster.”

There are no Native American peoples.

Just an argument over who’s ancestors got here first and when.

Plains Indians didn’t have the horse until the white man brought it to the Americas.

The new correct liberal term is “First Peoples”.

"Columbusing" - the practice among white people of acting as if something created by people of color didn't exist until they took note of it...

I'm sick of these 'people of color' walking around with laptops, smart phones, and driving in cars... all 'white culture approbations'..

People of Color can keep their recipes, sombreros and fake African names but they need to keep their damn hands off OUR technology.

I'm with you fool in paradise - I'm sick of them appropriating our culture. NO LAPTOPS, NO SMART PHONES, NO JET AIRPLANES, NO CARS... KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OUR CULTURE....

Okay, I enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, at the home of one of my wife's daughters (I. e., my stepdaughter). Among those present was another of my wife's daughters and her husband, a full-blooded member of the Cahuilla tribe from California. He's a good husband and father, and works as a truck-driver. Two of their kids are in college. Another is planning to enter the Marines. The rest are still in high school. He's a lot better off than he would have been if Columbus had never arrived here.

My father was born in Italy. He was brought to America as a child. Both he and I are also a lot better off than if Columbus had never arrived here (I probably wouldn't even exist).

So of course I celebrate Columbus Day.

“the follow up question is always to ask what tribe, and/or did I mean American Indian or an Indian actually from India.

I’ve gotten used to just saying he’s Indian from India”

In some circles they have learned to abbreviate the confusion as to which Indian and distill the question. Dot or casino Indian?

an indigenous food activist known for cooking beautiful foraged meals using traditional Native American ingredients and cooking methods

Ah, yes traditional cooking methods. So, no forged steel tools or appliances then? No glazed table ware? No flatware? No use of electricity or natural gas. Only ingredients obtained by hunting of foraging. Nothing at all that might have been transported by truck or rail?

Lettuce make sure they use the original maize (one dozen kernals) of corn and rock-hard tiny potatoes. And drag it into the kitchen using dogs and travois and women slaves.

Love Navajo made fry bread, absolutely hate the mutton (has to be an acquired taste) and I have lived a 30 minute ride from Shiprock and an hour from the sleeping Ute almost 50 years.

Other than that the local Utes, Navajos, Jicarilla Apache natives shop at Walmart and buy the same things everyone else does. See them there every weekend.

Just last week there was a thread about Indians eating people.

When the Indians invite you over for dinner, they really invite you over for dinner.
