Another lib’rul who refuses to acknowledge facts that are inconvenient to them is heard from .... gee, thanks.
So what exactly are you complaining about, if this imbalance already exists TODAY — before any change in the Federal tax structure?
Please explain how conservatives in blue states (like me) have benefited from your largess for many years.
Because the tax code changes MAKE IT WORSE.
I live even further down the list than you do, and I’m less concerned about the changes in the Federal tax system than you are. LOL.
We just elected a new Democrat governor who ran on a campaign promise to impose a "millionaire's tax" to fund his utopian spending plans.
He hasn't even been inaugurated yet, and the Federal tax reform bills are causing him to backpedal on those promises. This state has already seen a massive out-migration over the years to other states with lower state and local taxes, and that will only accelerate now. I'm almost certainly going to be one of those who leaves, and this Federal tax change has almost no impact on me at all (it may even benefit me in the short term).
Yup. Nobody's going to purchase that crappy product now that the gun is no longer pointed at the American People's heads.
Our "Republican" governor was recently outed as the worst Republican governor in the country, which isn't surprising - it's Illinois which is also the most corrupt state in the country.
I'm seriously considering moving to Indiana, which as a balanced state budget, operates at a surplus has much lower property taxes but does have higher state income taxes. On balance, I'd make out a little better in Indiana than here in Illinois after this monstrosity called "tax reform" goes into effect.
Well, I hope you can both for your personal and our electoral benefit. If not, this bill suddenly makes tax reduction (aka Democrat elimination) a blue state priority for the first time ever.
I think I'm going to spend some time on Google today and look for some stats on states with the highest out-migrations.
Its the state you live in thats going to be crushing you. Your fed tax liability will no longer be reduced by your states tax bill.
That a state can raise taxes on you without you having to pay it all (federal taxes are raised everywhere else to cover it) is wrong. This is recognized and utilized by the left wing states. Hey, we can make our state taxes ridiculously high... and people wont have to pay it all... so theyll still elect us.... and the feds just raise the rates on everyone to cover the shortfall...what a deal!!!
I predict state taxes in blue states will not reduce tax rates right away. Theyll see how bad it is first. Then, rates will be coming down to be in line with most states which tax income. And I predict those who can leave high tax states will leave.
Im glad this passed and I empathize with those who lose deductions to the extent their taxes do not decrease. But I think that deductions should be eliminated to the maximum extent possible.
It sounds like you should be moving just to get away from your damn neighbors. LOL.
LOL, true.
The flip side of this is that you’re seeing an acceleration of the trend where the U.S. Constitution is turned completely on its head — with the U.S. government usurping the roles of state governments across the board.
It’s those damn’ voters in Chicago that outnumber the rest of us in this state ........
The amount a state gets back or overpays isnt the detail to use in an analysis of effects os SALT deductions.
A state could have more high earners, more income to tax, or fewer expenses etc. An aggregate state number means something but it doesnt mean high SALT deductions are free to everyone. Theyre not.
If a taxpayer uses deductions, less tax is paid. Hence the aggregate unpaid tax Is paid elsewhere by others. That is trivially obvious.
867V309 this isnt aimed at you! Just had to throw my thoughts in while I have a chance ;)
No, thats not what that means.
Your post omits that deductions reduce tax paid and that said unpaid tax IS paid via higher rates on _everyone_. I think thats why some people say there subsidizing you - although that is an incomplete view, I see where theyre coming from.
Second, a state with more taxpayers and more income to tax will have more tax paid than a state with fewer taxpayers and less income to tax. Obviously.
States like Floriduh and Calipornia may fit that. Lots of federal expenses in both states.
Im saying your analysis that asserts that aggregate state numbers mean what you say is at best incomplete and at worst is just straight up wrong.
Simple really.
