I lecture these people all the time, your new boyfriend does NOT take precedence over your kids. You new boyfriend/girlfriend does NOT form a new family despite what your therapist says, that child was there first and comes first. Your new boyfriend/girlfriend does NOT get to discipline your child. Tell them to keep their mitts off or you will walk.

You are so right! I tried to tell this to my niece 15 years ago.....her children come first! Don't date until they are grown. Don't bring men into your home, around your small children! She didn't listen.

She brought in two, (yes, she didn't learn her lesson after the first time) men that beat the crap out of her and did who knows what to her children (I suspect sexual assault/abuse/rape).

One of those children, the eldest, decided she's a male and has many problems (she now looks like Cher's kid) and I'm the bad guy because I tried to warn them.

Better this fiend was never born. His kind really don’t last long in prison. He will “die” a 1000 times. ALL the factions in prison agree on one thing baby killers will suffer.

We lived the children’s service nightmare for four years after my sisters death in a suspicious car accident. She left a three year old and psycho boyfriend.......after tens of thousands of dollars, countless court room hours, hundreds of hours of devastating testimony, we prevailed. Lies after lies from children services protecting a man who years later shot a person in the back seven times and eventually died in prison for first degree murder. It is a ruthless system and children rarely win, unless there is a family with means willing to pay the price.

One of my close friends’ husband abandoned her and their 3-year-old son on the ‘80s. She decided to postpone romantic relationships until her son graduated from high school. Her son is a productive, well-adjusted man with a wonderful family. The boy’s Christian grandfather was ever present in his life, so he had that to help with male influence.

Omg! Whatever happened to protect our children? What of mom’s and boyfriend’s parents/family? They had to have known that baby was at risk. Why didn’t they take their own trash out? And what of the bio dad and his parents/family? No money for a lawyer? No one could find a Pro bono attorney? Not one of them could attempt Pro se? That poor sweet innocent baby girl! I am so sorry Mariah!

“Probably the little one took up too much of Mom’s attention and affection.”

Or he was sexually abusing the little girl and something violent/rough occurred. My friend works with children removed from abusive homes and prepares detailed reports for the courts. This crap happens all the time.

You think it is just that easy? From my own experience, it is virtually impossible as even having validated verifiable evidence doesn’t mean squat. I went through ten years fighting that battle that never got any closer than the day it started. The reality is this;
1. People need to get past the notion that lawyers are in it to ‘fight’ for others.
2. Lawyer’s are businessmen
3. Businessmen need to keep customers coming back to keep their lights on and the rent paid.
4. Lawyers, and therefore Judges who are lawyers, know where the main funding source is located, i.e., the breadwinner.
5. Men, as a rule, have to work so they will always, as a rule, be the primary source for funding.
6. Create the environment to make sure the customer keeps feeding the cash register.

Finally, today we do see legals firms that specialize specifically to representing men in domestic cases. I tried one during my nightmare. They would not even talk to me before I ponied up a large retainer to even hear or look into my claims that I had already documented for them.

So, I can sympathize with the father.

Same thing happened in Maine with little Ayla Reynolds.

There is damnation unimaginable coming to pedophiles.

Mike Flynn gets persecuted, but PizzaGate languishes in NYCity and in the so called justice department.

I hope and pray that the patience of parents is running thin.

I would rather explain to CHRIST why I killed a pedophile than why I did nothing.

I’m not here to argue. Bad things happen but it’s not always the children’s services worker’s fault. I once held that job so I know a bit more than most on the workings of CPS and the courts. First, the father should have documented, documented, documented the home situation and presented it to his lawyer. His lawyer should have taken it to court and had the custody amended.

CPS has to follow the rules set out by the state legislators and they have to abide by the court ruling. They can not interfere in custody cases. They can not take on a case that merely involves “I don’t think my ex is doing a good job or I don’t like her boyfriends around my kids.” A messy house isn’t CPS’s job. Dirty kids aren’t either. Just like a police restraining order, there is nothing that can be done after the fact or you know for sure something is going on. There must be bruises on the child. There must be a statement from the child that mama’s boyfriend beat her or molested her. If there is neglect, there must be substantial evidence such as mama leaving little kids home alone for hours and the neighbor has witnessed it. It can not be rumor or the neighborhood gossip.

Even when the case worker goes to the home, there isn’t much that can be done other than give mama a warning. A case worker can not take a child out of the home without supervisory approval and then it must be a serious situation where the child is in danger. Being dirty or not eating regularly is not a life threatening situation.

When a child is removed from the home, the court must be notified and the judge will hear it within a few days and the child is assigned an attorney ad litem. This attorney is picked at random so he may or may not want to be bothered with it or may not have time so most times will do nothing but occupy a chair in court. CPS presents its findings and the judge decides what happens with the child. Since the state legislatures have said the goal is to return the child to the home, that’s what usually happens only this time it’s the judge who gives the parents a warning. Judges very much dislike cases involving custody disputes, so again, whatever the other parent says doesn’t get much weight.

I have seen time and again, even with documented sexual abuse, judges returning children to the home and asking for monthly visits with the case worker. That’s mainly why I quit.

Case workers tend to get a bad rap on FR, especially from those who know nothing about the law. I was the only CPS to cover 3 counties and was on call 24/7. There was no cell service because it was a rural area. Beeper service wouldn’t reach my town so I’d have to rush to the grocery store at the end of the day and be home pronto just in case the phone rang. I had no life because I had to be at a landline phone number the state hotline knew. Sometimes, I was put on night call for two additional counties. Now, consider travel time. Two or more hours one way to a home visit and two hours back. That’s your day but you have 30-45 active cases and 50 messages to return and a pile of paperwork waiting at your desk. There were many nights I would spend in an empty courthouse until the wee hours just doing paperwork. And people complain CPS wasn’t camped out in someone’s house 24/7 waiting for something bad to happen. It IS NOT the worker’s fault.

And when a kid is taken out of the house, all hell breaks loose. The big bad mean government worker stole a kid from a loving home. How DARE they!!!! Well, folks you can’t have it both ways. Yes, I’ve seen many on FR complain kids were taken. Either you give the workers a reasonable number of cases that can be effectively handled and you make the courts leave the kids in foster care long enough to wake the parents up and place punishments on the parents or sit back in your easy chairs and grumble. Workers aren’t there for the perks or lousy pay or long hours. They’re there to help children and at no turn ever get thanked.

Many find Dr. Laura's approach draconian,

Anything that impinges on one's desire for instant gratification is "draconian", in today's world.

You may be correct, but it may be a case of a man finding a woman with a vulnerable little girl, hence he may be a pedophile. I’m sure it will all come out in the investigation.

In August 2016 the small central Minnesota town of Watkins experienced a child abduction and murder. In that case, the father of the child belonged to a summer league, baseball, I think. A member of his team was a bachelor and they went out for drinks after the game, then the dad offered the friend a place to sleep overnight as it was after midnight. The guys talked until about 3 a.m. before turning in.

In the morning the ‘friend’, the dad’s truck, and the 5-year old daughter were missing. So an alert went out. By late afternoon they located the truck and the man. The child’s body was found in a swamp not long thereafter. She had been strangled, molested, and had a head injury as well. Her name was Alayna Ertl.

You are precisely right. The minute I heard about this poor baby, I knew-the boyfriend. WHY do women bring home anyone with working genitalia and put their children at risk? And it’s always the children who suffer. This is a monster-and the mother PICKED him!! As a woman I hope she suffers mental guilt for the rest of her life. SHE is partially responsible, through utter stupidity if nothing else. I would never forgive myself and I would face that I deserved every torturous second.

LORD may she be safe in your arms if not on this earth. Prayers for the dad and all who love this child. If harm came to her, may justice be swift and strong.

Is this the same guy that was referred to as the ‘stepfather’ in earlier reports? Or is this another guy?

I would just like to say that not all step dads or step moms are evil monsters.

My niece remarried and her husband is a great dad to her eldest, now adult daughter from her previous marriage just as she is a great step mom to his son from his previous marriage, in many ways more of a mom to him than his natural mother, tough on him, yes, giving him the discipline and structure he never got from his mom, but a loving and good influence on him.

And they are together, great parents to their four children.
