The real slippery slope was criminalizing discrimination rather than working to change societal attitudes. The attitudes have changed but the laws institutionalize racism and resentment. There is no risk of gays not being able to get wedding cakes. None. Yup. After reading through the oral arguments, I'm even more convinced that what they really ought to be considering striking down are "public accomodation" laws.

I think this is just the opinion of the two authors--Robert George and Sherif Girgis. I'm surprised that The New York Times ran it, but it does not represent the editorial stance of the Slimes.
