Apply his taxi analogy to the wedding cake controversy. To compel a business to trade with someone by force is a dangerous precedent. Better the student body rise up and overrule the dean and the other bigots.

Exactly.

If a taxi driver could refuse a passenger on ideological grounds, so can a baker refuse a customer.

Both should be allowed of course.

The University, being a tax funded entity, should not be able to discriminate.

The UofM has always been a deep, deep blue institution. Further, a large portion of the student body is from out-of-state, from uber-blue homes. That goes a long way in ‘splainin’ WHY Stearns can act and speak as she does. Good for Adams for shining some light on that fake sapphire.

I have a fundamental God given right to discriminate. Only Government stands in the way of freedom and liberty and tells individuals they have no such right to protect themselves from people, races, creeds, forces, ideas, ideologies, religions, or governments they wish not to be associated with regardless of reasons. It is human nature to be discriminating in your decision process, and government attempting to thwart human nature, has only FORCE at it’s command. Forcing obediance is one of the prime principles of PC.

UM enrollment has dropped over the past decade from roughly 12,000 to under 10,000 students. Rival Montana State University has done the opposite rising to over 16,000. Perhaps the new President (starts this week) will be able to help. UM has the law school and the journalism school. MSU is the agricultural school with engineering, architecture business and the sciences. UM is known locally as the Montana School of Dance.

Exactly correct.

It is a fundamental human right of freedom of association.

It has been frightfully violated over the last 50 years.

As a Montana State alum, I always saw Missoula as the center of socialist propaganda. One of the (many) reasons I chose Bozeman (back before it was BozeAngeles)!

"The UofM has always been a deep, deep blue institution."

It wasn't that way when I graduated in 1966. I guess over the years U of M has gone the route of all universities.

Way back when, we had true freedom of association in the US. After anti-discrimination laws were passed, that was the camel’s nose in the tent that allows government much greater control over our lives. Yes, there were good intentions, but the only entity that must not discriminate is government. Private citizens and businesses must be allowed to discriminate based on any criteria. If one store won’t cater to a certain clientele, it pays with lost business. Economists Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams have pointed this out many times.

“Only Government stands in the way of freedom and liberty and tells individuals they have no such right to protect themselves from people, races, creeds, forces, ideas, ideologies, religions, or governments they wish not to be associated with regardless of reasons. “

Forty years ago the universities were forcing us to listen to liberal/socialist propaganda by requiring participation at “contemporary culture” lecture series for graduation credits.

You are of course right. Every free choice a man or woman makes among alternatives involves an act of discrimination. The PC lunacy is and has been an effort to suppress individual freedom. It reflects the Left's Compulsion For Uniformity.
