They make brief trips to those places to be lied to. Then they return to tell us lies about how wonderful the socialist paradises are.
They never stay there.

The media enter the 21st century as they left the last one: as human mic stands.
Really, in the age of instantaneous global communications and HD video there is no reason whatsoever for most permanent reporter assignments, especially a roomful of bitchy, gossipy White House correspondents. Questions could and should be submitted by citizens, not mostly hostile media types. The questions would improve and probably the answers and the media’s little soap opera would have to end.
But celebrity media are perhaps even worse. When a Chelsea Handler starts talking about generals and wars, she should be asked who Hannibal was. The likely answer: Lecter.
But the media are as ignorant as their quarry so they are ill equipped and too cowardly to challenge these ludicrous pronouncements on the spot.

If I had to choose the one I’d most like to meet in an alley it would be Stephen Colbert.

Of anyone on the list, they have the most ability and desire to ruin ordinary people’s lives, since they have the power to make legislation. And their smug lies and phony concern about the same people whose lives they work hard to crush every day just puts them at stratospheric levels of annoying.
They deserve much higher ranks on the list.
