Hey, Lindsay: I am an American, born and bred. I am a Vietnam veteran. I have tried to play by the rules my entire life, and I only get shit upon for it. So, I want to know what law(s) I can break, that by breaking not only will I NOT be punished, but I’ll be rewarded. Tell me, Lindsay.
Wow, that second table. Wow.
“Never, ever trust anything a liberal says on any topic.”
That’s a fact.
California was once the land of Nixon, Reagan and Wilson.
No more...
SC people are truly delusional. I guess they are suffering with post-Thurmond syndrome.
Yes, but the American people as a whole are too dense to figure this out.
Nope....no, they won’t be “our” voters.
They’ll go with the “gimme dat” crowd.
He’s an idiot that needs to be gone.
I wish someone would ask Graham “Have you ever been blackmailed concerning your homosexuality?”
“California was once the land of Nixon, Reagan and Wilson.”
I hope you’re not talking about Pete Wilson, because he was about as liberal as they come (pro-abortion; anti-2nd Amendment; loved government regulations).
Yes, we want and should receive the Hispanic vote - the ones who are here legally. Those here illegally may end up receiving permanent residency from this Congress, but if they entered illegally, they should never receive citizenship, ever. Period!!!
Lindseed has been saying this for years.
The same ‘culture’ dreamers want to bring here... the same one they brought to California. California - once our most prosperous State - now the State with the most poverty... beating out Mississippi and Alabama...
is that really what we want for our children?
Illegals do not want US citizenship. The Dems want to give it to them so they can vote, but the Illegals are only interested in whatever legal status which allows them to work and gain access to our welfare system.
It’s just plain weird. There is NO WAY IN HELL that Republicans will get anywhere near 50% of the Amnesty vote...25% if they’re lucky - so why are they pushing this so hard...It would be some of the Democrats demanding that blacks no longer be allowed to vote, or that the voting age be raised to 25 - they would LAUGHED OUT OF THE PARTY, if not worse - not due to the politics of it, but simply because of how it would sway the vote.
Yet here we are...
In that case, I suppose there would be very few takers for my conditional path to citizenship. That would be okay with me, since it would reduce the cost of the program.
It looks like I forgot to mention in my post that any “DREAMER” who refused to follow my proposed conditional path to U.S. citizen would be deported the same as those who didn’t qualify.
Nor should they be allowed to vote.
Wilson?
Here are the rules for the current DACA recipients:
You may request DACA if you:
1. Were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012;
2. Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday;
3. Have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007, up to the present time;
4. Were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making your request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;
5. Had no lawful status on June 15, 2012;
6. Are currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a general education development (GED) certificate, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States; and
7. Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor,or three or more other misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.
I have a number of questions for you:
Would your amnesty include those eligible for legalization under your criteria but did not apply for the DACA program, i.e., were brought here as children under 16? That number is estimated to be about 3.6 million compared to the current 700,000 DACA recipients.
You advocate a conditional path to citizenship? What are the conditions and how long would it take? Would you allow them to sponsor their parents and other relatives?
Do you really believe that you could limit such recipients to only coming from non-Muslim countries? It would never pass Congress nor the courts.
I would require any individual who meets the above-mentioned requirements and who wants to obtain U.S. citizenship to honorably serve in the U.S. military for a minimum of four years. Anything other than an honorable discharge would result in immediate deportation, and even with an honorable discharge, the individuals' service records would be carefully reviewed to determine whether they are really deserving of U.S. citizenship.
The average age of a DACA recipient is currently 24 with the oldest being 37. They can't all serve in the military due to age, physical status, etc. And why should they flood the military while American citizens could apply for such positions and until recently, the military was downsizing forcing military members to leave the service? As a veteran, I oppose making the military accept lawbreakers. There are currently 900 DACA recipients serving in our military out of 700,000. That suggests that patriotism is not exactly rampant among current DACA recipients.
So, basically, I want to see comprehensive immigration reform before I am willing to support a conditional path to citizenship for the so-called DREAMERs.
While I agree with your list, the DACA program has been terminated and unless something is done by March 5th, the "Dreamers" will no longer have temporary legal status and would be eligible for deportation. It will take years to build the wall.
