That would be an extremely dangerous assignment for any officer. There will be all manner of rage and emotion of the gun owner wrapped around such an attempt. I can see why this would be justified in some cases, but find some other way to get those weapons. This would be a guaranteed bloodbath the way many Americans feel about their guns.

For some, this would be as bad as CPS knocking on your door to take your children away because somebody saw you give Junior a swat for stealing bubblegum. Or because you have chosen to Home School.

They have a Red Flag law in IN.

Basically if someone is an extreme risk of being a threat to others, a court can revoke their RKBA.

There has to be due process before a court can issue a Red Flag order.

I think its worth looking at. Like I said, target the person, not the gun.

Persons with a propensity to violence would not be allowed to own guns. This doesn’t infringe on any one else’s rights.
