I would be for it IF it gave the defendant due process and the right for his/her side to be told to the judge, the order was temporary and had an expiration date after which the defendant’s property would be returned WITHOUT a court order, AND no renewal without due process, i.e. no rubber stamps without the defendant’s pr their counsel presence.
Not without a judge or jury. Will be an excuse to disarm all. So screw that.
I’m opposed to a Red Flag law without due process safeguards.
Taking away someone’s RKBA is a very serious matter and should be done only when there is no other alternative.
The person affected should retain the right to rebut an extreme risk charge and to show he isn’t a danger to himself and to others.
I don’t know whether it would have stopped Nikolas Cruz or someone like him. But in principle the idea certain people need to kept away from firearms is a good one.

For some reason people with mental illness really got swept up in this and getting them help became very difficult.

Apparently, they’re lying, at least about the State of California. Does California’s law really require a judge’s order? And is it really temporary, that is, with no lawyer’s fee required to resume firearms possession?
If they’re going to do it without corruption, clean drug tests over a short period of time should be all that is required to resume legal firearms possession. Several other classes of people are already having their Second Amendment rights permanently violated arbitrarily by individuals due to previous legislative errors.

“Words” can be slightly changed to suit the writer’s purpose/goal. Until I hear and see the actual ‘Trump proposal’ .. this does not mean much at all. I’ve seen too many paraphrasing on too many serious subjects, to believe this article.
A simple ‘but’ used instead of ‘and’, can change what is being said in any given situation.

The APA declare “Transgender” as a mental disorder. That’s been ignored. Conservatism would not be ignored.
Suicidal tendencies, or suicide being a potential side effect of their medications.
I thought all states had in place the means to have someone declared mentally incompetent in a court of law. Guess I might be wrong about that.
Transgender is a mental disorder, as are most of the perversions. Conservatism is not.
