Roberts was up against a Leawood Dr. who was an Obama supporter - it would help Pat to actually own a home in the state he represents - that’s my opinion on ALL Senators, btw.

I don’t think PDJT has ended up on the wrong side of an argument yet.

I love Trump’s national security position on the matter. The country must have a viable steel and aluminium industry, albeit small and less than mid 20th century capacities, but capable of retaining the tribal knowledge with an ability to ramp up capacity.

I agree with your take on it.

I’m here from the Committee to Protect and Advance Brain-farts, and I’m doing a darned good job of it.

Leave me alone! Heh heh heh...

No tariffs are counter productive to American jobs.

International companies can move or build plants in America
if the want to avoid tariffs.

Hey! I resemble that remark! Almost daily!

(though not every comment is a joke - one n00b thought one was on another thread)

Protecting the metal industries from dumping is overdue. Trump has not DONE anything yet. Maybe he can make a deal to US advantage.

As I'm fond of saying, I'm perfect...

...except for when I'm not.

To be honest, these screw-ups can be a lot of fun. Thanks for the good natured ribbing.

Take care.

In defense of myself, I wouldn’t say I’m a wiseacre.

A wise “small plot” maybe...

Come up with something that restores the competitive balance for US corporations in their bid against the sharks that control international commerce, and tariffs would not be a problem.

An atomic reactor would operate ever so much more rapidly if only the engineers would dispense with inserting graphite rods to SLOW DOWN the runaway generation of heat within the atomic pile.

The orderly conduct of international trade agreements is dependent of the good faith of the parties involved. If some of the parties are not interested in abiding with a set of predetermined rules, then the tariffs are a punitive measure to control the runaway dumping of cheap product in the target market.

Tariffs are a control measure to assure compliance with “arms’length” deals worked out beforehand. They are not the basis of a policy.

I’ll try, but sometimes when I try to misspell a word, I get it right by accident.
