Can tiny Los Alamitos take on California's 'sanctuary state' movement?

The small Orange County suburb of Los Alamitos has picked a big fight with California by passing a resolution saying it wants nothing to do with "sanctuary state" laws aimed at protecting people here illegally from President Trump's promised immigration crackdown.

Rush made a reference to this story stating that this is what political courage looks like.

If more CA cities file Amicas briefs and declare their CA city to be NON SANCTUARY --- what will that courage cost them in retaliation by those who run their State?

I thought this story was worthy of breaking news sidebar but opted to post in blog due to recent objections to my use of breaking news side bar

This story is less than 24hrs old and I think it could spark a trend in CA. Pending your review and approval

Respectfully,

“.......what will that courage cost them.......”

Might be a good thing since the illegals will rapidly disappear from their streets and welfare roles as they seek the safety of other “sanctuaries”.

In Kalifornia the Governor can remove all of the elected officials from this city and have it run by bureaucrats.

In the Peoples Communist Republic of California, Brown can do anything he wants. He is “Supreme Dictator” and he will tell you so every day. I know, I live here

I think there is a Better way and they have just set the stage for it to be a possibility, CONFESS!

By now, or in the very near future, the city will begin to receive official demands for them to cease and desist, Collect all the threats, then go ahead and cave in to their pressure once you have a large number on the record. RELEASE SOME CRIMINAL ALIENS!!~

Get you Lawyer and go Straight to the US Attorneys office and CONFESS to Conspiracy to Violate Immigration Law, Alien Smuggling, Giving aid and harboring Illegal Aliens.....

You should be able to Make a DEAL with the US Attorney for FULL IMMUNITY if you Testify against all the Co-Conspirators, namely,
State Legislature
Governor
Attorney General
and Every last person or agency that contacts you regarding this Criminal Conspiracy that pressures you in any way to go along with their scheme.

In Kalifornia the Governor can remove all of the elected officials from this city and have it run by bureaucrats.

Kindly cite the provision in California's Constitution that gives the Governor that power. As far as I know the only provision for removing an elected official in the state is through a recall election, a power afforded the citizens of California.

Lately it's hard to find the facts on FR through all the spittle. Hmmm, that was supposed to be vitriol, but I guess it's right too.

...Lately it's hard to find the facts on FR...

Probably just reflects the broader new media environment, but yes, FR has been inundated with circle-jerks of inaccurate bloggers referencing each other to establish 'facts'. Dramatically increased tolerance of personal attacks and profanity contributes.

I think this might spark a movement in CA and has the long term potential to turn CA red!!!

While I'm very hopeful that other red jurisdictions in California will join the Los Alamitos rebellion, i don't see the state itself turning red in our lifetimes.

The extreme demographic shift that has occurred in California over the last thirty years or so, has virtually assured its fall into third world status. It is going to fail, and spectacularly so, as all one party socialist states do.

It took decades for California to reach its current state of degradation. It will likely take just as long, or longer, for it to turn around.

Yes, you may be right but the number of people retiring from CA and moving to Florida over the next few years might turn both states more purple..

California turning purple? The state hasn’t been purple since Ronald Reagan left the Governor’s office. There’s been a steady exodus of Republican voters leaving California ever since.

The only purple I see, is in formerly solid red counties, that are on their way to turning blue..
