What if you’re defending with it? Is it a defense rifle?

The m-16 is a government issued small arm. Nothing more.

I strongly dislike the term assault rifle. It’s false and misleading, and leads right into the liberal propaganda machine.

In my opinion the 2A shouldn’t be limited by anything.

Background checks are backdoor registration. Once the data is taken it never goes away. A bad acting government can use that data to confiscate targeted weapons. Oregon is preparing to demonstrate this.

Only a true Domestic Enemy would ask that asinine question.

Yes, especially since the phrase “except for” is nowhere found in the wording of the 2A.

“Shall Not Be Infringed” is really just gobbledygook, right?

Because:

60% of those polled don’t know what “universal background checks for gun ownership” means,
and
80% of those polled can’t define “assault weapon”.

But a recent Quinnipiac survey showed that 97 percent support universal background checks for gun ownership. And yet the U.S. Congress remains paralyzed by inaction. The same Quinnipiac survey showed that nearly 7 in 10 Americans want a nationwide ban on assault weapons,

And there was an 88% chance Hillary would be elected!!!

“Do We Still Need the Second Amendment?”

If you need to ask the question, you prove that you don’t under the reason for the amendment.

“Do We Still Need the Second Amendment?”

Now, more than ever.

How about some criminal control?

You mean like .... let's see ... enforcing the laws that are already on the books.

only 38 percent favor allowing teachers and school officials to be armed, with 7 in 10 teachers opposing such measures.

Those teachers need to be fired.

"Ah, Mr Ahmed, Don’t think I care to read your thoughts on gun-control or lack thereof."

I totally agree.

And when I read idiotic analyses like his, I wonder if we really "need" the FIRST amendment.

Do We Still Need the Second Amendment?

As long as governments, any governments, exist there is a need for the Second Amendment.
As long as hostile foreign forces are arrayed against America there is a need for the Second Amendment.
As long as criminals roam the streets of our towns there is a need for the Second Amendment.

However, seen in a different light, you're correct to ask the question.
The right of the People to arm themselves precluded any positive law. You can't legislate something into law which already existed. The Second Amendment stipulated that government was to protect the right, not encroach upon it.
Therefore, you could answer "no" to the title question as long as the People understood that the right preexisted government. (with the mental acumen of America today...good luck with that! sheep /sarcasm)

Do you need a law to remind you to breath?
Do you need a law to remind you that you have the right to defend yourself with mace, a taser, a staff, a club/mace, a hammer, an axe, a long screwdriver, a knife, a sword or even >great sucking sound< a firearm, if necessary?

Mindset. Where is his? Where is yours?
