The Brooklyn Museum has a very nice collection of African art, from 2,000 to 5,000 years old, produced in the lower Nile Valley (north of the Tropic of Cancer).

BTW, it it the ONLY Gallery in the Boston MFA that I rush through without looking at anything. That's 'cause the curator at MFA is obviously a racist is hiding all the good stuff.
