rump is no more impeachable than Obama was.

His die-hard, no-matter-what support is at least 35% of all voters.

He’s untouchable.

No he is not!

The bill was passed on March 23rd. It’s April 3rd and he’s been at this a few days already. How could it have happened a month ago?

Right. The spending still happens but they could pretend they are mad about it.

“How could it have happened a month ago?”

That’s when Trump could have announced what had to go before he would sign the bill. When he had ultimate leverage.

Now there’ll never even be a Senate vote on his proposed cuts. All while each of them passes the House.

When Republicans had the power and leverage to alter the course in a real way, they punted. Now they will deceive the weak of mind into believing they would have if they could have.

Please quit referring to our POTUS as “rump”. You folks are sickening.

Plenty of RAT sites for your type.

The House, too, could have chosen to NOT throw all this money away...but they chose to do so.

That’s how they exercised their power.

Now they’ll exercise their influence over the stupid...which is the ultimate source of their power.

Perhaps you should tell people what you would propose doing about it then?

The GOP gives smoke and mirrors a bad name.

The GOP can’t do shite on their own, since they don’t even have a simple majority in the Sen. what with Zen. Collins & Collaborators.

Look at it this way. The Dems and the GOP got together and passed a terrible bill, but we finally got a decent increase in needed defense spending.

Then the GOP base started justifiably screaming at their Congressmen about being sold out.

Now those same Congressmen are talking to Trump about the possibility of employing the rescission provision contained in the 1974 law.

This opens undreamed of possibilities. Think of the obvious pork in that bill, stuff even some Democrats won’t support when it’s out in the open. And there’s bound to be some GOP pork too, but go for the Dem pork first.

Trump could turn the entire process into one hell of a reality show, with real money involved—our money. And in the end, the funding for Planned Parenthood could end up on the chopping block. Send a hundred different requests up and vote on each of them one by one. Trump could be tweeting a new one every day for months, and you know he’d love it, and so would we.

Give the president the line item veto that he wants. Cut planned parenthood, NEA, PBS, and received love. Simple!

Tried before and struck down by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional.

If they wanted to get back in the good graces of their base, they would retro-actively re-apply the old SALT deduction. I thought my half-SALT idea would do, but that would screw over some other people in the meantime perhaps.

>>Now there’ll never even be a Senate vote on his proposed cuts. <<

There will be if he chooses the first items to cut wisely. If the Senate refuses to hold a vote, they’ll be on record as supporting the most ridiculous Dem spending idea Trump could find in the bill. And you know there are plenty of candidates.

Beyond that, you’re saying that McConnell is going to refuse to back the President. He might, but that could get interesting too.

“Perhaps you should tell people what you would propose doing about it then?”

My advocacy on this site has been, for over a decade:

“First the GOP must die. Everything else comes after that”.

I would vote out of office each and every Republican that voted for the existing leadership, no matter to other factors.

In the primary, or in the general.

Once the GOP is dead, work can begin to defeat the existential threat to the Republic, the Democrat party.

Until then, we have not altered the course of the nation in any substantial way.

Well, yeah- a rescission of obvious boondoggles could be done.
Could be a good-sized amount too.

The problem is throwing in political ‘poison pills’, like abortion. 60 House RINOs win by voting for it; 15 Senate RINOs win by voting for it and 2 Senate RINOs win by voting against it- killing it.
The numbers don’t add up.

If I see a ‘clean’ rescission come from the House I’ll cheer like crazy. But I don’t expect it.

“Beyond that, you’re saying that McConnell is going to refuse to back the President.”

McConnell has never backed this POTUS. He has worked tirelessly to undermine his agenda at every turn.

That will not change.

He’ll join with Schumer and declare the President’s actions a stunt meant to disrupt the nation.

And he’ll not let one single rescission hit the floor of the Senate for a vote. And Dim votes will back him.

Cloture will never come.

You’d have been a great guy to have around in 1776.

First we have to kill all these godforsaken colonists. Then we can get busy on the Redcoats who are the real existential threat.

Well, now that you’ve made it perfectly clear that you want the GOP to fade away and die, I guess I couldn’t care less what you think will happen.
