More people die on the roads every day than the total number that die in Airline related incidents in a year or longer. Much longer.
I’ll fly any day.
The only thing that worries me is the spark in the center fuel tank.
For air travel:
<1% chance of being in plane accident.
>99% chance of getting harassed or physically accosted by government personnel.
So, yeah, it's safe as far as death by terrorism, fire, or rapid deceleration.
But, no, you are not safe in your person, which is why I don't fly.

She should not be referred to as a female pilot. That would be insulting.
I can't help wondering if there isn't a little bit of exaggeration going on here. I fly about half of what she does and fortunately I have yet to experience any of the things she listed here. The worst thing that happened was I was flying on a corporate turboprop and we came in behind a weather front and had to circle in bumpy lurching conditions until the winds dropped at the airport - got a bit nauseous but was able to avoid tossing my cookies.
It reminds me of Three Mile Island. It was a catastrophe. At least, it should have been. But the system worked.
i.e. it didn’t prove how dangerous nuclear power is. It proved exactly how safe it is. Even when everything went wrong, it was controlled and everyone was protected.
In this case an engine blows apart and the plane didn’t crash and nobody died. That is amazing.

I prefer going by car and not having to walk a mile to the gate, getting groped, waiting around for an hour with coughing passengers or stuffed in with who knows what in the next seat.

She had power in one engine and she had hydraulics. Good airman-ship for sure, but any professional pilot worth their salt should have been able to bring that plane in.
That being said I listened to the recording and she was a cool as a cucumber. The emotion in her voice sounded like she was sharing a recipe with a friend instead of bringing a badly damaged plane in for a landing.

There have been approximately 300,000 deaths in auto accidents during that period and 40 deaths from train accidents, as well as thousands of other deaths on boats, on bicycles and even on foot. Unquestionably, the safest way to get from point A to point B of any major distance is to buy a commercial airline ticket.

Safest, yes, but far and away the most uncomfortable and annoying, and for under 300 miles, not the fastest.
From what passengers on Southwest Flight 1380 said later, Captain Shults managed an almost unbelievable feat in bringing a badly damaged aircraft safely to the ground quickly while providing enough information in as composed a fashion as imaginable to keep passengers from totally freaking out. Sadly, one passenger died from injuries incurred in the incident. An engine explosion blew out a window, and the woman was nearly sucked entirely out of the plane. Flight attendants and passengers attempted to save the woman’s life, but she was unable to be resuscitated.

I’ll give her credit, but nobody should be making a big deal about it. She’s probably done the same thing in a simulator many times.
While it is the safest it also is the least comfortable.
I would suggest her simulator sessions might have included much more difficult circumstances.

Yep. The flight path on Flightaware looks like it was on autopilot all the way. But that’s the thing to do. It’s the safest strategy.
I played golf with a pilot who was telling me about a simulator session he had taking off from a hot high altitude airport with mountains ahead and they gave him an engine out right after takeoff.
If safety was my #1 priority I wouldn’t leave home at all.
