a good honest voucher program would put an end to the imprisonment of our children in screwels that don’t teach, or which teach our kids enemy propaganda and mush instead of the 3R’s
union thugs extortion racket plus indoctrination
I agree. I’d also like to see schools privatized.
The government could allow leases. Companies would then bid for the leases. The companies could do better than what is taking place now.
Start off non-union. If a union vote is taken, the company running that facility could opt out. Then a new bidding process would occur, and a non union shop could take over again.
There’s no assurance the old employees have to be rehired. Let these businesses hire all-new teachers.
It’s time to play some form of hardball with the teacher’s unions.
This may not be the best answer, but perhaps it could be tweaked some way to obtain the same sort of results.
go ahead...get a job where there is no tenure and your stupid little arse can get fired....
go ahead...get a real job that requires you to work beyond age 55 or so....
go ahead...get a real job that requires more than a mere educational major....
please....give us the actual amount of money a teacher working half a yr makes....go ahead....and figure out how much per day that salary is...and give us an accounting of all the bennies and when they can retire with nearly their full wage...
bump
Last I saw, quite a few elementary school teachers in one area on the Range were getting well over $40,000 per year. That was around 10 years ago.
Calling my representatives tomorrow to let them know:
“Not just no, but HELL NO!”
It’s not just the salary. They were offered a 20% increase, but it included no additional funding for the schools. We’re 48th in per student spending in AZ and the building are disintegrating. Meanwhile multiple bills have been passed by the people to increase spending on schools and NOT ONE SINGLE PENNY has actually gone to the schools. They’re not on strike for salary, they’re on strike to get the state legislature to stop being a bunch of lying gasbags repeatedly breaking promises to actually fund the damn schools LIKE THE PEOPLE HAVE REPEATEDLY TOLD THEM TO DO.
It’s not only the NEA, by the way. There are other unions including local ones. When I was working in schools as a substitute teacher, some radical left teachers were claiming to be conservative sometimes when talking to conservative parents and others. The administrators were also radical lefties. Some of the married teachers would often solicit other, more physically fit men for sex. Those places were nuthouses behind the scenes.
Quite a few of the teachers were doing drugs, too. They talked about drinking much water and exercising more to get enough THC out of their blood before applying. And did I mention the homo-activist teachers? They were a perpetually angry bunch.

agreed
we need to figure out how to transition to fully privitized schools
govt schools are evil by defintion
The danger is that parents will discover their kids are learning a lot more staying home all day watching cartoons. :)
I agree. It’s sad too.
I attended a public school when I was a kid and there was none of this trash they are foisting off on kids today.
We had kids better educated and much more mature at the same time.
Overpaid babysitters need to stfu or get fired.
I don’t agree, teachers make WAY TOO MUCH money for, like 189 days a year of work.
Again: MISSING THE POINT. They don’t want a pay raise, they REJECTED a pay raise, they want the legislature to spend money on schools that was PROMISED and PASSED. The schools are the only part of the AZ budget where they haven’t undone the “recession cuts” from 15 freaking years ago. In inflation adjusted dollars AZ is spending 1/3 less on schools now that 10 years ago. Walk into any school building in this state and you’ll see why they’re striking, they look like freaking public housing. And the people have passed multiple revenue increases that were promised to go to the schools, and none of that money has. 10 years of lies brought this strike on, the legislature is going to have a hard sell convincing the teachers they aren’t lying again.
I feel their (the kids) I.Q. has already gone up...
