All I see an independent candidate do is split the Rat vote into Very Leftist & Not-So-Leftist. I can’t see a Perot style candidate get any traction, Trump already has those people. He will keep them unless he betrays this constituency on the border issue. I don’t think there are enough “Forever-Not-Trumpist” voters across the country to fill a small college football stadium. They are all concentrated around the beltway (maybe a few other media centers!) and almost solely consist of those who make money off the past SOP flavor of GOP politics. The thing they do have is access to the media, a media slobbering for every anti-Trump statement. It makes their numbers seem much larger then they are.

To me the truest thing Trump ever said during the primary was “We are being governed by idiots!” Note I may have the quote slightly misremembered but the point is still there. Kaisich continues to confirm that!

There were probably politicians in the 1850’s who promised to bring back the good ‘ol Whigs and kick out those emancipation obsessed Republicans. The subject of how Donald Trump won the presidency by running on a Truman / JFK platform in a Republican suit should occupy some serious future historical analysis. People like Kasich, Ryan, et al, whose entire careers are based on happiness in the minority and crumbling to Leftist Media attack, all to be “liked” by the cool kids, will never get it.

Trump basically is an independent candidate/president already. What independent Perot-like candidate would challenge him? Where would such a candidate get votes from?

The only Republican votes he’ll win in 2020 are the NeverTrumpers who - like the Bush family - voted for Hillary in 2016.
There being no loss for Trump, he should encourage the loser.

AND Kasich won't collect BIG BUCKS from third party Soros shills if he runs as a Republican. He knows that.

He'll run as an "Independent" - - within the plan - - as a 'spoiler'... Kasich's job is to take votes from Trump. Period.
