I’ve fired both the M-1 Garand and the M-14. Despite its limitations, the M-1 is the one I stake my life on. A good companion piece is a 03 Springfield.

American gun owners are not pajama boys. Too many gun owners wouldn’t comply. There are not enough prisons and FEMA camps aren’t going to work.
We would definitely have enclaves of gun owning citizens. Too many states and counties in fly over country wouldn’t do it. Even South side Chicago under regressive guns laws and leftist mayors can’t prohibit guns.
The people already hate government and support law enforcement has eroded and would collapse if they began confiscation. The whole criminal justice system would lose credibility and it wouldn’t be long when judges, prosecutors, and cops would have to worry about the safety of their spouses and children.

We are in agreement, FRiend. I qualified with the M-14 in 1969, then the M-16A1 after the M-14 was withdrawn from service. Carried an M-16 in Vietnam, hated it, last qualified on M-16A2 in 2010 and still hate it. A toothbrush or cordless drill has more character.
My M-14A semi-auto is like a comfortable sofa compared to the Armalite. I take it to the farm & have to tell myself to stop wasting ammo & cease firing after I’ve printed a few targets, it is such a joy to shoot.
Anyway, this article is right on the money, especially about owning two of the same combat rifle. And the Congresscritter who has declared war on gun owners needs to have his website spammed to the max except it probably only allows constituents to post messages.
But if you google his district & zipcodes it should be possible to come up with a spoof address that will get past the firewall.
