He claims that he can intervene with him on their behalf. There is no evidence at all that he wasn't blowing smoke when he promised that. Cohen is, by all accounts, the bottom feeder of all Trump's legal representatives. He handled the bimbo. Unless AT&T has had a bimbo eruption among their senior executives then the only reason I can see for contracting Cohen is the expectation that he can influence administration decisions on their behalf. Money poorly spent on all accounts.
