I assume you're talking about Gowdy and Nunes. I won't defend Gowdy; but Nunes has done an admirable job navigating the Swamp, to the best of his constitutional abilities (as just one member of Congress, he cannot unilaterally issue a contempt citation).
What often gets missed is the "trump card." President Trump can declassify all of this stuff immediately. Why he's not doing it is open to speculation, but don't dump on Nunes -- he's gone through a lot personally (bogus ethics investigation drummed up by the Democrats) trying to uncover the corruption.
You're clearly frustrated, as we all are. But direct your wrath not at Nunes, but at the one person who can end this stonewalling right now -- President Trump!

So from Gowdy's point of view there seems to be a Fourth Branch of Government: Congressional, Judicial, Executive and the big important 4th branch--The Judicial.
No wonder the Nation is spinning its wheels on the Rosenstein/Mueller charade--that powerful 4th Branch is running the show right now.

No way either of them got the wool pulled over their eyes, and neither did Trump.
The more likely scenario is that Sessions showed them just enough to convince them to back off a little longer - that they are working on something that will be worth the wait.
I said yesterday that we’ll be able to tell by Nunes’ and Gowdy’s reaction which of the two scenarios is true: whether A) the DOJ is obstructing congress in order to cover up its deep state complicity, or B) the DOJ is withholding from congress details of a case(s) it is building AGAINST the deep state out of legitimate concern that if shared with congressional oversight committee, Adam Schiff, etc. will immediately leak it and compromise it by contaminating witnesses and/or evidence.
The idea is that if Nunes and Gowdy came back rom their DOJ meeting outraged, that would indicate that scenario A was true, but if they came back patient and satisfied, then B was the likely scenario.
To be honest, there was a third possibility - that they might act outraged even though scenario B was true, in order to buy a little more time for DOJ to wrap up their case(s). However, the lack of outrage on the part of Nunes and Gowdy leaves little doubt in my mind that the white hats have been in charge of the DOJ all along.

Every article I have read says that they met with DOJ officials.
That is quite different than meeting with the AG(Sessions).

Bingo! And Jeff Sessions was finally authorized to give Gowdy and Nunes (absent Schiff) a sneak peek at Trump’s winning hand.
They appear to have come back from the meeting with a whole new perspective.
The same thing happened to me once when I was 21. All my friends and my girlfriend were acting strange - lying to me - and abruptly ending conversations when I walked into the room. A weekend outing my girlfriend had planned for my birthday was cancelled for some reason but nobody would give me a straight answer.
I was getting so pissed my brother finally told me; “Dude, lighten up - they’re trying to throw you a surprise party!”.
