Adding a horizontal line is confusing.
And < hr > without the spaces is actually a HTML tag.

I know exactly what it is. There’s no need to be condescending about it. I’m a software engineer, and HTML is quite simple. Check my posts, I have posted lots of pictures and links, when relevant.

But I see no need to use HTML on every post when all I wanna do is quote someone. I do most of my posting from my phone, and it is more time-consuming to use HTML on a phone or tablet than it is on a real keyboard. Due to my repetitive stress injuries, I dictate and the least actual finger use I have to do the better off I am. On my main computer I have the HTML commands programmed into Dragon. But I am rarely on my main computer.

So you really don’t know all the reasons why someone may not be using HTML. You just want to assume that we are lazy or stupid.

Well, happy for you. Some of he readers are a little confused. Setting off a quotation with carets does not trigger off the need to use HTML to terminate a paragraph and introduce a new one with the Enter key.
