No, I just know what the rules for any lab doing animal experimentation are. I've worked as a consultant for some labs (though none doing animal work), and they "do" follow all the dotted i's and crossed t's of regs. They also have the disadvantage that the public can access their records at any time (freedom of information regs).

In addition, people working in these labs are encouraged to report violations; and there are LOTS of people who would have no problem speaking out about abuse. Many of those who do lab animal work got into the field in the first place because they love animals and are interested in their welfare.

So you have no problem with deliberately creating kittens for the sole purpose of giving them a disease, testing, and then killing them?

and you admit you haven't worked in any animal experimentation labs.

If they're following the rules, then perhaps the rules are wrong.

Again, you give government bureaucrats WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too much credit.

No. One question.....are you a vegan??

"and you admit you haven't worked in any animal experimentation labs."

No, but the federal labs I have worked with "have" followed the rules. I doubt that the labs doing animal work would fail to follow rules when other labs are doing so. Yes, it is a very slight extrapolation, but not unreasonable.

"If they're following the rules, then perhaps the rules are wrong.

Only to a knee-jerk animal rights type. I repeat...are you a vegan??

Stop using logic and informed thinking. It may be utilized on all FR topics except those pertaining to pets, then we go n raw emotion.

This is the vary parasite that is tied up with cat potty.

So it makes sense using cats.

I love animals but I’m not nutso about it. They are just animals. With a disease known to be warned of from their kitty litter.

OTOH, if these cats can be made clean I don’t know why some adoption agencies can’t take some every year. Maybe they should contract with a bunch of local shelters and agencies to help part them out.

You are sensible, BUT we’re only talking about 100 kitties a year. That is minuscule. They could be dispersed easily to local groups, much less if more remote groups offered to help.

These cats are not ‘pets’, anymore than rodents used in research or the cattle, hogs and poultry that we eat are. The cats are bred specifically for research.

I know that’s a hard pill for animal lovers to swallow, and I personally look forward to the day when we can find other ways than using animal models - but I also expect that eventually we will give up eating animals, too, at least the warm-blooded ones. I’m afraid both are long in the future.

Agree 100%. Well, except for the part about not eating meat. Steak and bacon better be the last to go.
