My favorite question to ask.
A warmist will almost always toss out the “97% of all scientists...” canard.
As soon as they do I reply that anyone that actually believes that has been suckered by warmist propaganda and hasn’t done enough reading in the area to even realize they’ve been suckered.
If they’re a reasonably intelligent person, they’ll know that they just spouted out the number without a clue where it came from. That might just introduce some doubt into their belief system, for if they believe the 97% everything that follows is a belief system, not a rational analysis.
From there on, it’s sometimes possible to continue the conversation productively by going into the reasons the 97% number is completely bogus, then admitting the earth has definitely warmed, then actually having a reasonable conversation on the matter. If they’re not all that intelligent, it’s impossible to get past the 97% belief. They just believe what they want to believe.
I remember when it was THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT just before THE COMING ICE AGE.
Anyone who thinks they’ve got it all figured out probably doesn’t really understand how the differential equations that describe how the highly complex real world systems work, and certainly haven’t read the popular book Chaos with those DEs in mind.
Last summer there was an eclipse of the sun that was correctly predicted down to the minute and geographical location. This tells me that the orbital mechanics of the sun, earth, and moon are well understood (by a few).
Now we are approaching hurricane season. If a few of the global warming advocates could accurately tell us NOW when and where these storms will hit then I’d have a lot more confidence in their global warming warnings. But for now, their best advice comes only 2-3 days ahead and is limited to: RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
BTW, I was in Florida again last week and the ocean is in the same damn place it’s been since I first went thee 50 years ago.

1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.
2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.
3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.
4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.
5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.
6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.
7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.

What I consider one of the stupidest things said in the last Century.
He would have made billions as a middleman in the Carbon Credit Exchange he helped found.

Ask for the data, a precise methodology of its collection and calculation method for which they produced their conclusions.
Numerous cases have been documented of the ‘researchers’ making these pronouncement then being unwilling to provide their data for review (even saying that they DESTROYED it) and even refusing to disclose their methods of collection/calculation.
THAT IS NOT SCIENCE Tell THAT to the next leftard warmist ideologue you run into and tell them to stuff it in their pipe and smoke it.
Well, he did make a few bucks in the exchange that’s pretty certain. And the folks that traded for them “felt” good about themselves. And, isn’t that what counts? ;-)
