The Editor and VP-News of our local Gannett newsrag, a black gentleman (Though I seldom agree with him on political matters, at least he's not a hate-whitey bomb thrower type, like Eugene Robinson), mentioned being pulled over for a broken headlight a mile from his home, then ticketed additionally because his license plate holder slightly infringed upon "Garden State". He said his first reaction was that he was profiled.
The comment was part of an editorial page offering entitled "It's time to talk about race, bias", subhead "Press seeking your ideas on how to frame the conversation". Since I have been ticketed for that same "violation", and he was stopped at night (how do you tell the color of a driver at night under usual circumstances?) I plan to respond to him, politely but no punches pulled.
I think I'll mention the 3 bodies found, which, if the driver was black and the cop following PC protocols by not stopping him, might never have been found.
