No one will go to the mat for them - not even Syria.

China and Russia will.

Iran’s delusional.

There’s not a company in the world that answers “Iran” when asked if they would rather trade with Iran or the US.

Trading with both is no longer an option.

If North Korea denuclearizes Iran will poop their drawers.

“China and Russia will.” (go to the mat for Iran)

Russia stood down its air defenses in Syria, and allowed Israel to attack Iranians there, in recent weeks.

China, in recent weeks, promised to prevent further sanctions busting against Iran by its companies, to save their electronics company ZTE. Neither has sided with Iran in any substantive way - just some conciliatory statements, and small scale smuggling.

Russia has had some talks about using cryptocurrency, for the Iranian elite to smuggle some of their money out of the country, but nothing that is going to run them afoul of US sanctions (that is, nothing that will prop up the regime long term).

Ok. I am reasonable. Let me read it in its entirety and with all the sub clause secret side agreements included?

Oh that's right. Nobody is allowed to see it.

On this matter alone, Bob Corker needs to be swimming with Luca Brazzi. I wonder what his cut was?

The bearded savages in iran wake up every day and yell “death to America,” and want to get Trump out of office.
Democrats wake up every day and yell “America is bad,” and want to get Trump out of office.

Iran, you’re about that close to giving up your right to be a country.

Iran wants the world to save the deal they never signed? Isn’t that special.

ZTE basically got a death sentence for ignoring sanctions on trade with Iran and North Korea, and Trump cancelled it. The only thing the Chinese are upset about is that ZTE got caught. They'll make sure that they are more careful going forward.

This is Trump against the world on the Iran deal. Do you honestly think that Russia or China care if Iran develops nuclear weapons? No. They will take whatever stance will tend to weaken the U.S.

Trump should drop a nuke on this arrogant jerk just to shut him up.

Then Trump should ask, “Who’s next.”

Well you seem to have shifted from saying Russia and China will go to the mat for Iran against the USA, to saying they don’t care if Iran develops nukes. A far cry different.

Just like everyone else, Russia and China have much more to lose from the USA, than they could possibly gain from Iran. They will only use Iran to make trouble when there is no real cost.

When push comes to shove, Iran is utterly alone in the world, as evidenced in Syria recently - Russia and Syria told their military to stand down, while the Iranian military was being bombed.

gee. they don’t need a “deal” if they’re actually serious about NOT making nuclear weapons: simply don’t make them ... there’s nothing stopping Iran from NOT making nuclear weapons ...

Call it what you will. I believe that Russia and China will not support the U.S. sanctions against Iran and will do what the can to make sure their business with Tehran continues.

Just like everyone else, Russia and China have much more to lose from the USA, than they could possibly gain from Iran. They will only use Iran to make trouble when there is no real cost.

They don't believe there will be cost involved. ZTE has taught them that.

I disagree.

“They don’t believe there will be cost involved. ZTE has taught them that.”

Trump took ZTE hostage, and made them buy it back. In addition to agreeing to Iranian sanctions going forward (or else), ZTE (effectively the Chinese Government), must still pay $1.7 billion dollars. That probably teaches them that there are real costs.

“Russia and Syria told their military to stand down, while the Iranian military was being bombed.

I disagree.”

Do you think that Russia shot down Israeli planes that were attacking Iranian positions? Or that Assad has declared war? No, they did not. No country on Earth made any move to defend Iranian troops. Nor will they.

What Shi’ite power will rally to the defense of Iranian Mullahs? None. What Sunni power? None.

Bad actors like Iran to be a thorn in America’s side, but none are willing to take on America (or even Israel) militarily on Iran’s behalf, and none are willing to sacrifice their business with America (and operations in the International banking system) in favor of business with Iran.

The current Iranian regime is circling the drain, and all the big players know it. Iranian banks have long since been plundered of their assets. Their currency is collapsing. Their economy makes very little of what they consume - they totally rely on oil and gas exports. 90% of their exports go through Kharg Island, and 70% of their imports go through Bandar Abbas - both of which the US could take out over the weekend, if we chose.

The Iranian people hate their Government, and are only kept under control with harsh repression and frequent mass hangings. A third of the population are ethnic minorities with active independence movements (Kurds, Arabs, Azeris, Balochis) - but the Persian heartland was swept by uprisings in recent months as well.
