Heh, no, it isn’t that, it is that he sounds like a total a-hole. I just finished reading the book “Let Trump Be Trump” about the campaign (written by Cory Lewandowski (former Trump campaign manager who was replaced by Manafort) so sure, he has reason to be harsh, but Trump apparently realized Manafort was a slime ball and took away all of his responsibilities after Manafort said he didn’t want to resign from the campaign....and then he quit two days later.

The way they described him in the book is completely unflattering. It was that characterization in the book, not his graft that I was referring to.

Trump apparently saw Manafort the same way too...

.

Did the FBI raid his home at 3 AM again, with guns drawn, and his wife barely clothed?

If the accused tells anyone they are innocent, its tampering with a potential witness, so that makes them guilty right? Of course if they remain silent that means they are likely guilty. If they seem annoyed at the process they are guilty. Ah hell if the Left doesnt like em, thats enough they are guilty. The only defense is being a Leftist or even better a Leftist minority. But of course right wing minoroties are super guilty.

Drudge sure likes pushing Russian collusion stories. He’s been doing it for some time.

Still, it’s horrible what has been done to Manafort, especially the predawn raid on his home, waking he and his wife and rifling through their abode.

Despite (President) Trump’s misgivings, one ought to keep in mind how Manafort had been trusted to work on behalf of Reagan, Bush ‘41 and for Bob Dole.

He partnered with the late great Lee Atwater and was a prominent figure in GOP politics for decades.

Finally, who if anyone was better suited to wrangle delegates for our current POTUS???

Personally, I pray that Manafort and Flynn are ultimately exonerated, pardoned or otherwise cleared in the appalling Witch Hunt.

I am mainly referring to his prosecution: someone may be a slime, but if he hasn't broken the law, he shouldn't be prosecuted.

The problem I see is that Mueller and others in the FBI have allowed criminals (or people they have some compromising evidence on) to roam free and continue to do what they do simply so they can use them as a cause for investigation whenever they find it convenient to do so.

How many other secretly investigated people are out there whose files are used by the FBI to snooker the courts to provide warrants that conveniently sweep in other people's information? If they actually launch a grand jury, they have to notify the target, so it's much better to do nothing but use the information already gathered to spin as wide a web of snooping as possible. All "legal", all "legit."

Does anyone even know how many people are being used like this and how wide the sweep of information is?

If this story is true, then Mannafort ain’t too smart. HE should know his phones and computers are “tapped”.

Just when he had things going his way, he reportedly blew it. Who does he think he is, a Democrat?

Sessions fooled a lot of people. That’s entirely on him; he has a lot to answer for.

Lol—Mueller and Kerry, separated at birth!

I just hope Mueller gets shut down some way, somehow. He’s swung his wrecking ball long enogh; he needs to put out of business.

The best scenario would have been for Sessions to have told Trump recusal was a very real possibility. Trump says he would then have chosen a different AG.

That’s what we need; not milquetoast Sessions unrecused, but a loyal, aggressive, pro-MAGA conservative AG.

Sessions just ain’t that guy.

I wish President Trump would come out and issue a blanket pardon for everyone except himself and then issue a statement telling Mule Boy that he is the only one not pardoned and therefore the only person he can indite is him and to put up or shut up. If nothing from Mule Face in 30 days fire him for incompetence.

I had no idea we were in a nation where you could be indicted for potential crimes.I suppose we could all be indicted for murder under such a standard.

Meuller should be charged with malphesance of office and stripped of any proecutorial powers, this should be nipped in the bud before it becomes a standard practice.

This is supposed to be the USA, not some third world autocracy with Meuller in charge.

Ok, I have skimmed through the pleadings (available at https://www.docdroid.net/y9ixLT4/pm.pdf).

In late February, the government released its latest version of the indictment against Manafort alleging (among other things) that his firm lobbied people in the United States without properly registering as a lobbying firm. Manafort’s defense (or at least one of his defenses) is that this firm limited its lobbying activities to Europe, such that it didn’t have to register in the United States.

What the government is now alleging is that, after the government announced the superseding indictment alleging this claim, Manafort called and texted a (non-US resident) who worked with him (and who is thus a potential witness) in order to state Manafort’s position that Manafort and his firm limited their lobbying efforts to Europe only, and not the United States. It appears Manafort never actually succeeded in actually having a phone conversation with this person.

The government’s argument that Manafort suborned perjury assumes that Manafort is guilty as charged. Therefore, it argues, by asserting that his firm did not lobby in the United States, Manafort suborned perjury. Which strikes me as a facially defective, bootstrap argument.

Moreover, the government does not present the slightest evidence that Manafort did anything more. For example, no evidence that Manafort asked this person to change his testimony, to hide evidence, to put forward false evidence, or the like.

I am a lawyer, but not a criminal lawyer. The government’s claim that—after the government had communicated its position to the world by releasing the indictment—Manafort should not be allowed to communicate his contrary position strikes me as not sufficient to amount to suborning perjury. Again, I am not a criminal lawyer, so that’s just my non-expert opinion.

I also didn’t see any explanation why Mueller and his team waited until June to bring this issue to the attention of the court.
