One of the things about Philly that I found unusual was the demarcation between relatively safe, mostly white neighborhoods and the dangerous ‘hood was extremely sharp.... it happened in a block or two.

I was visiting one of my sons who lived there at the time, and we went to a beer/burger emporium on the edge of Center City. My boy said, “Check this out.” We went into the restaurant from one entrance, in what appeared to be a fairly decent neighborhood. We then went out on the other side (the place was large enough to span a block in one direction), and it was fairly serious (although not “deep”) ‘hood. Quite amazing. Usually the transition happens over a number of blocks.

And, of course, if you read the news, you notice that even the so-called nice, safe parts of the city get over-run quite often by roving, aggressive ferals.

As I wrote elsewhere, football is a GAME...it's not the Salk vaccine nor is it it saving souls. Sure, you get some life lessons and see the feats God's Creation can perform for our enjoyment.

However, perspective is needed....the good people working carnivals understand their job...athletes increasingly lose sight of the fact that they are ENTERTAINMENT.

This Eagles fan will take Trump making an example of the Eagles plus tax cuts plus CNN ratings disaster plus Gorsuch plus a strong economy plus NK on its heels plus lots of other MAGA - not to mention the avoidance of THIS...

If this man knew the first thing about the history of the City of which he is the latest in a line of wastrel Democrat mayors, he would know that at 5th and Chestnut Streets, a woman asked Benjamin Franklin, as he emerged from the Constitutional Convention, "Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" To which he replied,

"A republic, ma'am, if you can keep it."

So now, instead of a rule by elites by monarchy, we have the rule by elites by oligarchy.

The communistic use of the phrase "our democracy" has been promulgated through the sorosmedia and is pounded into listeners' heads multiple times a day. But we are a Constitutional republic. We have representative democracy, not popular democracy. We have an Electoral College, not mob rule. This was the Founders' intent. Let's try to keep it.
