Is it more than minimum wage, or could you make as much staying at home collecting benefits? Or, are today's workers just too lazy?
I think a shortage of workers is good for most of us, but could this lead to inflation?
I'm old enough to remember the hyper inflation of the late 70s and that truly sucked. People on fixed incomes took it in the cheeks.
Still, I want to see more people working and getting paid, which, incidently, pays back the deficit and adds much needed $ to Social Security coffers, for example.
It will lead to some inflation.
Most companies are VERY angry that the cheap labor from illegals is drying up. Funny thing, it isn’t all from Trump.
A lot of Spanish speakers know enough English speakers to demand better wages.
Also, I looked on his website and he doesn’t have an open jobs section. No one who comes to his website would even know that he is hiring.
Main Street businesses can’t find the workers they need...
THEN RAISE THE SALARY YOU ARE OFFERING
Somebody ought to tell these dumbasses about this thing called the ‘Free Market’. If you can’t find workers, pay more.
I spent enough time recently, as have many of my friends, looking for jobs that pay enough to live on; plenty of ‘help wanted’ signs but working 40 hours no one could afford even a room + food + healthcare, so I these SOB’s can go out of business as far as I care.
I loath cheap-asses who don’t want to pay a wage a man can raise a family on every it as much as welfare louts.
I’m not sure what’s going on, but I do have an anecdotal story; my brother, who is somewhat intelligent, able bodied, in his early 50s. Worked in the newspaper printing business for many years and was a manager. Of course, we all know how that’s going. He was downsized. After being out of work for several months, and submitting many, many resumes, he just got a job making $10 an hour.
My hunch is few are qualified...for anything other than making beds.
“Despite”, I think they misspelled “Because”.
Wages self regulate. The market determines the levels for varying positions. It’s all about supply and demand. Absent government interference it all will work out just fine.
Coaxing an idled workforce out of the corners requires a certain overcoming of inertia.
Will the later Trump administration look like I-like-Ike’s? As the secular left fades away robbed of a cause?
I smell the BS coming out of the elite investor class that wants shamnesty no matter what.
Shortage of qualified workers...all over the workplace.
Companies can train but can’t undue drug use or snowflakiness...
A beer distributor exec complained to me a couple days ago about the trouble he had hiring workers. CDL holders are being paid better by oil and timber companies and general laborers are in short supply. I replied that it was a great thing that there were so many jobs to be had. He says, yeah it’s great that there are a lot of jobs, it means people have money to buy beer, but it does me no good if I can’t get it out there in the market.
Welfare for work sounds good to me. Need a new office of From Welfare to Work. Employers call them up, office calls able bodied recipient and tells them where to deploy to. Say no, off the rolls you go.
a good start would be to reduce unemployment benefits and eliminate “free” everything ... that would get a bunch of people back to work ...
If you can pass a drug test and show up sober, you can get work.
