I wonder if her deciding to identify as black had anything to do with the fact that her parents adopted several black kids. Perhaps she thought that her parents loved them more than her, so she thought that if she was black then they would love her too. Then the whole thing grew into thinking if she became a black leader/activist that they would love her even more.
