Yup, the money involved ensures that there will always be those willing to take over. Like the cartel using submarines—if one makes it through on a one way trip they can afford to lose 10.

Locally a young white woman was pulled over speeding on the interstate. She had two pounds of fentanyl. That’s like over a million bucks. The stuff is so cheap someone can afford for a speeding flake to be in charge of transportation. I wonder were most of it goes, faked pills or cutting heroin.

Freegards

Right: we should just make everything legal, including murder, insurrection, etc... That will fix everything, right? Because everyone knows that unilateral surrender is the best way to win...

during the George W. Bush Administration, when the supply of cocaine, crack, and meth began declining

The link in the article goes to a document that shows just the opposite: cocaine production higher at the end of the administration than at the start.

John Walters has always been a lying dumbass.

“A physician that I know said that for long-term pain management, opioids are *not* indicated. “

That is certainly a controversial statement not held by a general consensus of experts in pain management. Let the debate on the proper use of opiates play out among physicians and researchers. Bureaucrats, politicians and lawyers have no place in creating practice standards or determining the legitimate use for individual patients. If Bureaucrats and politicians believe that opiates are a threat to public health and welfare, they should enact defined dose limits.

The only answer to over to this is walling off doctors from pharma. They can pool resources for the purposes of showing results in competing drugs at the national level, then doctors can look at case studies and determine which drugs are the best. They could also look for signs of addictive behavior and determine what does pushes people over the edge. That way doctors will know what about of the drug is useful and what amount of the drug pushes them to abuse.

Cartels are diversified so much at this point I doubt legalizing drugs would put them out of business. Drugs are by far not their only source of money. The cartels are now completely organized crime in every way imaginable- as our mafia was at its strongest. They have several other illegal activities like human trafficking, kidnapping, prostitution, smuggling everything you can imagine and some you can’t. Not to mention they are invested in legitimate businesses as well.

“You will not stop drugs until you start publicly executing drug dealers and drug traffickers.”

Concur. We should be doing that anyway because people die due to the crimes they commit.

I don’t recall any moonshiners being executed.

Exactly, Obama tried to tell everyone drug dealing is a “victimless crime” as he put hundreds of pushers back on the streets.

But dealers and traffickers kill thousands of people. They are selling poison and should be executed for their crimes. We need public executions to bring home to people how evil drugs are.

Yes, but you can’t really regulate the illegal market, and bureaucrats need jobs. Plus all the old and sick should just die already. It’s not like refusing pain medications is torture; at least not as bad as putting women’s panties on your head.

Just because THERE HAS BEEN NO STATISTICAL INCREASE IN OPIOID DEATHS AT ALL ONCE FENTANYL IS EXCLUDED is no reason to start laying off Federal agents or thinking we don’t need more intrusive malevolent legislation. These people need jobs, and everyone should be willing to give up their excess Constitutional rights to ensure the children are protected from people who take medications for chronic pain.

Just because FENTANYL ISN’T BEING PRESCRIBED ILLEGALLY THROUGH PILL MILLS is no excuse not to persecute doctors who try to manage patients pain.

Never let a crisis go to waste! Always remember, RESTRICTING LEGITIMATE PRESCRIPTIONS INCREASES THE ILLICIT MARKET which, in turn, completely justifies the restriction and enables the growth of government which is the primary purpose of government.

Invade Mexico and get it over with. Make it another state. What the hell, we’re paying their way through life as it is.
