I like Barrett ... but right now, she’s a bridge too far for confirmation.

My wife suggested that perhaps Trump will lead with a pick that he knows won't get through, and then follow with the one he wants. Maybe she's being too strategic here, as time is a factor. It would be nice to have an odd-number Supreme Court before the next Court session. The election is also a factor, but I think we'll be OK there, as its the Senate that matters, and it is looking like a several vote pickup.

Not believing a word of this until I hear directly from President Trump.

“Trump privately indicated that he has settled on a Supreme Court nominee”

This part is true. The rest... not so much.

Trump settled on this Supreme Court nominee at the same time he settled on Gorsuch.

Thomas Hardiman.

Gorsuch number 1 pick
Hardiman number 2 pick.

Got an example other than her?

I don't need evidence. That's why "ad hominem" is a fallacy.

2A is also a red line issue for me. However, the fact that this guy wrote an opinion supporting Obamacare is cause for concern.

Well, all of the picks were on the short list compiled by the Federalist society. So all of them are within the strict reading of the Constitution judicial philosophy. Unfortunately, the lost of the Alabama Senate Seat the missing of McCain (who has always been pretty good on judges) gives the President very little margin of error. A Justice from this list is a win, in my view period. You don’t know what will happen with the Senate. Hopefully, the GOP can pick up seats (at least 2) and have a 53-47 margin for the next 2 years. So next pick, even if Collins and Murkowksi (spelling) vote to bloc, you still have a margin of 2 as a 50-50 tie means VP Pence breaks tie. A paper trail nominee will be more likely approved in the next 2 years if Ginsburg or Sotomayor retires.
