I think I understand the confusion with who and why the kids were with.

It was the Assistant coach who took them. It was the head coach that was alerted by parents that the kids were missing.

I haven’t been following this super close, but...why was this soccer team brought 3 miles into a cavern complex during monsoon season. I would assume that the risk would be known. If so, highly irresponsible.
