The House did vote a resolution demanding Rosenstein comply with Congress’s demand.

How many Democrats voted for it?

They need to hold him in contempt of Congress, then Trump should demand his resignation or terminate him.

Swamp dwellers like Rosenstein are all over DC. While they are repugnant, they are a crafty and devious lot. THEY SHOULD NOT BE UNDERESTIMATED.

This needs reiterating. Do not be fooled by the morons the left puts out on the street. They are just cannon fodder. The real left lives and plots behind the scenes in corporate boardrooms, billionaires' mansions, penthouse suites, and posh getaway places like Gstadt. They are indefatigable in their pursuit of power and totally without scruple. The Bolsheviks termited away for decades before gaining power. During that time, all their opposition - the Tsar's ministers, the Anarchists, the Socialist Revolutionaries, the Mensheviks - never appreciated the vicious threat that the Bolsheviks posed until they were overtaken by it and had a brief time in holding cells to regret before the bullets smashed home.

I agree that Trump’s slowness to act is hitting him, but he’s in a catch 22nsotuation. If he took action, once again he’d be accused of obstruction. I think in the long run, it’s better to sit back and watch the fire works as these joker’s are exposed, and their web of deceit exposed, and tying them into a knot of their own creation.

So

The root cause of these problems is the electorate.

By now there is a mountain of evidence of obstruction, lying, stonewalling and defiance. Its not just RR; Trump needs to clean house.

To be brief, I believe he should make an address before the American people to outline the need for reforming the obviously out of control and no longer trusted DOJ and FBI. These agencies have been politicized and weaponized. Most people see that and would support the president in his efforts to restore accountability and integrity.

In view of the massive amount of evidence of corruption, partisanship and malfeasance, Trump can easily make a convincing case for “re-setting” or restructuring these agencies by cleaning house. It would put some senators in the politically indefensible position of defending specific acts of subversion and the manipulation of our election process.

It just so happens that Peter Strzok has given Trump a made-to-order poster boy for what’s wrong with DC and why he needs to reform it. Anybody who watched the Strzok spectacle see’s that.

In the government people are placed in “acting” positions all the time. People can be replaced by temporary appointees and through the use of recess appointments.

It wouldn’t be easy, but it is necessary. We are at a crossroads and there’s only one way to go from here in my opinion. And that is to get on with repairing or restructuring these rogue agencies and removing the partisans who infest them.

Zero. At most nearly zero.

But it doesn’t matter as it only takes a simple majority in the House to impeach.

Rosenstein has angered the majority in the House of Representatives.

I appreciate your comments but I don’t like passive approaches as they have a way of growing into even bigger problems. Please see my #71.

I have no doubt that Trump knows this, but he has been slow to act and it is hurting him. JMHO.
..........................................................

I think just the opposite. Without the frustration of it dragging on and on, there would have been no extensive exposure of the true rats in the house. The longer it lasts, the more the citizens are seeing the true colors of the swamp. Trump will move when it is time to sweep the board. He knows what he is doing.

IT only takes a simple majority to impeach

That's true, but I was discussing Congress's unwillingness to defend its institutional privileges, which are actually OUR privileges to govern ourselves, DELEGATED to them in Article I.

Congress cannot function as intended if the party in the minority seeks to govern through the Executive, or through the courts.

And, of. course, a party line impeachment of Rosenstein would be worse than useless, and could cause great harm, as the impeachment of Clinton did.

The Rosenstein’s of the world start wars with a “scorched-earth” policy when threatened. We live in dangerous times, under the influence of dangerous people.

The Trump White House has already thought that one through.

There is a law that allows the President to select certain persons as Acting to replace an impeached, resigned, or fired appointed official.

There is a list of names of persons that will step in. They have 210 days to act as the official they replaced. 210 days put the confirmation vote past the midterms.

But Congress no longer has an interest in legislating.

*****************

Lots of truth to that. But they are already teetering on the edge of irrelevancy. Not sure they will be willing to become completely inconsequential. They have to maintain some semblance of utility and power if they want to keep their “perks”. Otherwise, the money, booze, etc. might get re-directed to those who wield real power (i.e., unelected bureaucrats).
