“Never underestimate the thoroughness of the Germans, especially if they end up with a strong leader.”
That cannot happen without a coup. And I doubt such strong will still exists in Germany. I believe that’s been culled out of their genetic pool.
The 15% of their population they lost in WWII were the willful and resolute.
It’s there, but not in the halls of power at present. The present rulers are employing rule by crisis, something that Obama himself did but they did first. Things can turn on a dime suddenly over there, which is why I would see Trump’s plan of working with individual member states to be more stabilizing and the sooner the better.
I’ll believe it when they produce 100 of their very own 5th generation fighters and a Navy of 100 warships.
Until then they are not a military threat to anyone, anywhere.
The point is to prevent the “until then”. And that’s aside from the extant command structure and the Bundeswehr quietly taking over the forces of Romania, Slovakia and the Netherlands at present.
Back in Churchill’s day, the buildup of Germany was downplayed severely in the media, with Churchill himself being derided by his political rivals in terms that would make the USSR blush. I’d like to see Trump take the opportunity to nip any such repeat of history in the bud. The rhetoric against them implies much more being cooked up than what appears on the surface.
in that case, we should DEFINITELY pull all U.S. troops out of of Germany ... hell, we should pull out of NATO all together, it’s an obsolete relic of the Cold War that we won and is costing us countless billions better spent here in our own country ...
It’s no different than the rhetoric employed against Viktor Yanukovych, the coup which was also led by Germany.
“a new Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement in place already”
Russia would not be so foolish again. They will never cut a political partnership with Germany.
They see Germany as their eternal, existential enemy.
And with good reason.
Commercial transactions only. That will be the limit of that relationship.
“...we should pull out of NATO all together, its an obsolete relic of the Cold War that we won and is costing us countless billions better spent here in our own country...”
Agree wholeheartedly. We’re about to have Venezuela Mk. II on our border. We need thos assets along our southern border. EUniks can rot.
they were afraid of Reagan also.
1 million American soldiers didn’t die in Germany. The total deaths of American troops barely topped 100,000 in both World Wars. I mean give me a break.
They already signed a new version of the MolotovRibbentrop plan with the pipeline...
That’s essentially what Trump pointed out, although he cast it as Germany being subservient to Russia most likely to put the thought in voters’ minds.
This article outlines it nicely...
So I suppose if we bring our troops home and let Putin have them they’re cool with that.
The US suffered 407k + military deaths in WWII and 671k+ wounded.

LOL!
How would the Germans know about anything about alpha males?
History books?
Same as 1941, when they decided the pursuit of Lebensraum was more important than securing oil supplies.
Dennis Prager has an axiom: Take what Germany says and always do the opposite.
