If you build it, they will come. Start providing free housing and the homeless and bums by choice will flood into the city in greater numbers. Then what? more problems not less. With SF City government doing nothing as it is any additional revenues to the city will be mismanaged. Then they will want higher taxes and the vicious cycle continues without effective solutions. The leftard way.

Leftist logic: our generous benefits and good climate have attracted homeless people in droves, it’s a problem, they’re all over the sidewalks and $#!+ all over the place, poor babies. Can’t have that, we need to penalize the companies who already provide all the jobs and thus indirectly all our tax revenue, they’re evil if they don’t and they’ll just sit there and take it. Not as if they’ll move elsewhere, nope, not possible.

Thank god leftists are so stupid about such things, if they weren’t they’d be dangerous.

...Everywhere is freaks and hairieys...dykes and fairies...tell me where is sanity...tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no, rich no more....

Things haven't improved much in the past 50 years.

“Frisco should check with Seattle about how the business “head tax” for the homeless worked out for them.”

How long did it take for them to rescind the decision?

If passed, the measure would raise more than $300 million annually chase businesses away from the sewer that was once a great city.

Back in the early nineties, the high tech company my husband worked for was considering moving certain operations from Silicon Valley some 700 miles east in Salt Lake City where it had purchased another business. A lot of the rank-and-file employees were all for it and were planning to relocate with it. However, the management people didn’t want to leave the Bay Area. About this time the dot.com bust happened and suddenly Silicon Valley was awash in empty office space. So instead of welcoming Bay Area people to SLC, we were transferred to the Bay Area.

What San Francisco needs to acknowledge is that a lot of its big businesses can relocate fairly easily. It’s not like these business have invested in heavy manufacturing plants with their infrastructure and port access needed by industrial plants. And if they continue their course, San Francisco will lose even the management who loved city life.

That might work.

I've proposed similar, except use Alcatraz. Give them access to drugs, alcohol, or rehab.

Successful rehab..., er, successfully tolerating rehab for a year means they can get off the rock.

I suppose a check of their marketable talents might be in order for any possible training, too.

You notice they don't say
'til there are no poor no more.

A half percent tax on *revenue*, not on earnings (profits)?

They want the ‘jobs’.

They want the construction & building of more housing-—because that is a revenue stream from PROPERTY taxes.

They want the payroll money spent in their own areas. 80% of your variable & most of your fixed expenses are spent within 30 miles of your job. .... FACT.

SO-—NOW they are going to punish the employers who invested their capital in SF ??? INSANE !!!

IF I were the bookkeeper for any of these companies, I would tell them to MOVE NOW. It will only get worse.

The ONLY companies that cannot ‘move their operations easily are those in mining or fishing. The mineral is where it is...

But there is NO reason that applies to any of the tech companies that have made the Bay Area their home.

I invest MY capital? I invest in hiring & supporting good employees? I pay excessive taxes in your location? NOW—YOU WANT MORE???

GOODBYE.....a town in Iowa or Ohio or Arkansas or Alabama will be very happy to see me with my employees.

A friend of mine moved his entire operation to Tennessee-—along with all of his employees. They are very happy there.

Which would contaminate the Bay, and kill the fish & seals, etc.

That is one city where the S!!T DOES run downhill.

They just tried this in Seattle. Don’t these people talk to each other.

Here’s another idea - ship them all to central California. Put them in camps, and give them unlimited heroine.

Yes, but like communism, it only failed in Seatle because the right people weren't running it!
