“100% scanning in 5 years! WTH?”

This is about the technology component (infrastructure, personnel and technology). It would set a goal of having constant (24x7) “eyes on” the whole 1,950 miles of border in five years. It is a big part of what they call “operational control” of the border - watching the whole length, and being able to effectively respond to incursions (personnel, transportation).

Basically, it is a system of networked cameras with artificial intelligence software to alert the Border Patrol when people are detected. It leaves the door open to including other elements (like vibration sensors in the ground, or airborne/satellite monitoring), but the camera technology is ready to go.

Per mile, it costs 1/100th to 1/1,000th as much as building barrier, and can be deployed more quickly. It greatly improves the percentage of illegals apprehended. It also provides very good intelligence on traffic patterns, as the smugglers shift their routes.

Even when we have great barrier and other infrastructure in an area, we would still benefit from having this layer of technology.

Here is hoping it never gets built. The whole thing was pork barrel to make Diane Feinstein’s rich husband richer.

The $20 billion cost of the Wall is less than a rounding error in the overall federal budget.

And this is from the more conservative side of an entirely GOP-led Congress!

“Scanning” is bogus.

We need a double, massive wall with a two-way road, patrolled by the military, in between.

Anduril proposes portable camera setups, that could be deployed quickly.

And a lot less than the benefits provided to trespassers by our tax dollars.

It would take lots of cameras plus moving them around over
2000 or so miles of the border isn't going to be that quick.
I guess having them in one location for a few days and then
moving them to another keeps the infiltrators from knowing
where they are at anyone given time.

Basically the correct wall will stop a lot of this incoming.
But it will have to be monitored for scaling also.

Agreed. A well placed bullet can
easily take out a camera, and
underground sensors are useful
only on high traffic trails.
The coyotes will figure out where
these sensors are located and route
their contraband to areas not covered.
We need the wall.

The National Guard has been mobilized along the border leading to the detention of 10,000 invaders in six months.

Trump could not have worked harder to achieve his policy goals, there isn’t a man on earth who could work like him.
And this is in the face of opposition from the Goebbelsmedia, the courts and members of his own party.

What gives you the absurd idea than nothing will be done in the five year window when the law is finally being enforced and the attractiveness of Illegalism has been reduced leading to fewer attempts to violate the border.

Invaders? Surely you mean the poor, hungry, destitute, masses/refugees right? Or are we talking folks who would rather NOT fix the problems in their own s**thole countries because they don’t have a 2nd amendment.

The Cartels have plenty of guns, enough to have killed 130 politicians in the last 10 months.

Before the gun becomes critical the Brain must know what it is doing.
