“Experienced government officials know that their job is to serve the president. But what if the president does not serve the best interests of the nation? In this emergency, the loyal and honorable deep state has a higher duty. It’s called patriotism.”

It’s not called patriotism; the correct term is TREASON. WaPo is advocating anarchy and revolution against elected government because Hillary wasn’t elected. Hang’em high.

> The term itself is propaganda

What elected representatives of the people are “the deep state” accountable to?
* Almost everyone (R & D) says they president cannot be allowed to direct their actions.
* Their leadership (past and current) insists congress is not allowed to provide oversight except where the deep state is willing to cooperate.
* While congress talks about doing something to assert their right/responsibility of oversight, it appears they’re fine letting a large and powerful government entity act without limits.

The propaganda is when Rs in congress get on TV and insist
* “if the deep state doesn’t cooperate we will impeach/subpoena/...”.
* then “we’ve been saying this for month and we’re really going to do it now.”
* Then “this time we really mean it.”
* Then “Throwing ourselves on the floor and screaming hasn’t helped so now all options are on the table.”.

Maybe the post would prefer a term other than “deep state”, but there’s a big problem here for anyone who cares about the Constitution and government of the people. This group has far more capability than and foreign actors to influence the next election. And it appears they attempted to in the last election and will not cooperate with congress to show that their actions were consistent with the constitution. Believing their weak arguments and allowing resistance to oversight because you agree with their cause is very dangerous.

The post will certainly change their mind if the same “deep state” takes actions to help Trump get reelected. And, as of now, there have be no changes that would prevent them from doing that or allow congress to verify that they did or didn’t do that. And if a Dem wins, he/she will have ZERO credibility with half the country because of appearances the “deep state” helped him/her win - the post should at least be concerned with that rather than sticking with today’s Dem talking points.

What’s the number again ... nearly 85% of federal employees (rank & file union types) vote democrat? More and bigger government is to their advantage.

The title is a bit misleading. This is not a Washington Post editorial position, it is one of its far-left columnists, Eugene Robinson.

But what if the president does not serve the best interests of the nation?

And who determines this? Liberals? The Deep State? The Democratic Party? Liberal activist judges? America is messed up because of these people.

The deep state does not represent the nation. They are just salaried employees. Once fired, they are gone.

Official declaration of war, sedition, and fascism by our enemies, who do not believe in elections or representative government.

The question is, do we have the stomach and ability to fight them.

If this country is ever afflicted with a Democrat government, we must treat them as they have treated President Trump - disrespect, disdain and denouncements. If that doesn’t penetrate their hominid craniums, perhaps one syllable words like block and yell might.

There, I’ve said it. Now, only the gutless “representatives” would only follow suit.

Rather, they are feared and loathed by the president and his wrecking crew of know-nothings because they have spent years — often decades — mastering the details of foreign and domestic policy.

Let's consider the problem of North Korea. Donald Trump and his team accomplished more in a few weeks of negotiation than the "masters of details in foreign policy" accomplished in 70 years.

If we're concerned about which fork to use or the appropriate tie to wear or the appropriate title to address some third-level bureaucrat, we'll send in John Kerry and others of his ilk but we really want to accomplish something, let's send in an accomplished businessman and his team.

The Deep State was that close ‘’ to stealing the country from US and putting US under the UN.
One more fake election between a Bush and a Clinton and they could get the final amnesty.
We wouldn’t vote for the New World Order so they are importing people who will.

All of this hysteria (every time they do it) is about stopping Trump from restoring the rule of law.

We weren’t supposed to be able to elect a President who would enforce the laws and borders.
In every election since the last amnesty we have only been allowed to vote for amnesty candidates.
They had US in a box.
Until Trump.
We were supposed to get Yeb!
We have a very short window of eight years of Trump to undo 30 years of the Bush Plan for North Mexico.
We MUST get rid of the Bush League Republicans, particularly in the Senate. (Rubio, Graham, Alexander, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Heller all voted for amnesty)
We will never get legislation favorable to the citizens until they are gone.

The Compost has been a CIA mouth-organ forever. Operation Mockingbird is larger than ever.

The corruption is larger than most people can imagine. Trillions of dollars and decades of empire-building are at stake, and the stakeholders need to take out Trump at any cost.

” Experienced government officials know that their job is to serve the president. But what if the president does not serve the best interests of the nation?”

Oh, well obviously you realize you as a bureaucrat stand above the president and the will of the people, and you overthrow him.
