BINGO! The problem is that government never goes after THOSE people because they are the "protected" class.

You forgot to mention that FAC holders are run thru the national crime database every day.
The speed with which Canada is sliding down the tubes will soon make it necessary for us to build *two* walls.

Uh . . . to be able to shoot back against someone who isn’t supposed to have a gun and is shooting at him or her, would be my first guess. Or, in this case, keeping some guy from killing three innocent victims (including, an unarmed 10 year old girl) and wounding thirteen others.
Just curious, when you were a little boy, did your daddy tell you not to protect yourself or others who are in need of protecting???

The FAC/FPC system was scrapped for the PAL system. There are 2 levels of PAL: non-restricted and restricted. Restricted are all handguns and several long guns. Then there are the “prohibited” weapons. Things like pistols with a barrel length of under 4”, magazines over 10 rounds in centrefire, etc.
The law is also subject to “interpretation” by the RCMP: the Commissioner can arbitrarily move firearms from one category to another without consultation. It’s a real CF, IMHO.
Mayor Tory, would the laws you propose to enact have prevented the current tragedy?
If not, then the laws you propose do not need to be enacted.

When criminals use guns, the gun banners want to take away guns from law abiding citizens. Why? Because they're easier to see.

This Toronto Mayor needs to talk to “DEAD FISH” of Chicago and find out what a whooping success taking guns away from honest citizens is working out. This past week-end, 4 dead and 44 wounded. So much for gun control.

Yep, as John Lott pointed out in a piece on Fox News, now that sharing info on printed guns has been declared to be legal, gun control is shot (pun intended).
