You just reminded me. I did too, and am proud, too.

When I tried to arrange a Buchanan fundraising meet and greet in Indianapolis in that year (was it 1991 or 1992?), the state GOP chairman somehow found out about my plan and called me AT HOME one night, challenging me and trying to dissuade me from it.

It was the beginning of RINOism's demise.

Very, very sick times then, most every Republican was a RINO except for a few such as the FReepers. All elected Republicans were stone RINOs.

It was like that Twilight Zone episode where the lone pretty girl is crying about her looks and everyone else is an ugly butt-face (hope you remember that one).

Went to a GOP big fundraiser at the Indianapolis Convention Center around the same time. Perpetual Incumbent Senator Rhodes Scholar (red flag, anyone?) Dick Lugar gave a campaign talk on how he was cooperating with all the Democrats in Washington to "get things done" and promote civility, etc. The sheep RINOs in the audience were all silently approving about this.

Sick, sick times.

Over the next 16 years conservatives grew antibodies to this sickness and ultimately, with Divine intervention also no doubt, MAGA is a reality.

Of course, having our voters getting beaten over the head every election by RINO losses sure got our attention! Think: Dole, McCain, Romney, YUCK!

We really have come a long way since those times.

Your post gave me a huge perspective on this.

Thanks.

Sorry, but this is nonsense. The whole point of tariffs is to raise domestic prices. Bafflegab about static vs. dynamic analysis doesn't change that.

This morning's Wall Street Journal reports the effects of Trump's tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. As intended, prices have gone up, and American consumers are paying more for products containing these materials.

Tariffs always raise prices paid by domestic consumers.

The economics of trade is dynamic and not static so higher prices post tariff mean more incentive to create domestic supply(dynamic). This will decrease(dynamic) prices eventually but takes time. Only an idiot would see this as static. But you are who you are I guess. No great intellect there.

For those with a brain everyone agrees prices will be higher post tariff, which is the whole point. 'Our' tariffs are inflationary, decrease the trade deficit, increase tax revenue and increase domestic employment, and 'their' tariffs do the opposite and are deflationary, increase the trade deficit, decrease tax revenue and decrease domestic employment. It's not hard to understand for most. So again prices are higher at first then become lower later on as domestic supplies kick in. The higher cost will be the difference in US labor/regs minus cheaper shipping costs. I'd estimate 5-7% higher. But look to quality to go up too. Yes, the one time inflation is worth it to me and a lot of other patriots.

Politics and economics mesh, they are really the same thing. Whether pointy headed green eye shade arm banded ledger types at the WSJ like it or not, that is reality.

The 30 year globalist experiment in "Free Trade" is an abject failure. Why? because the rest of the of world did't play along and used us you idiots at the WSJ.

We have completely duty free trade now between the 50 states and that can never change.
