Do not think that Rush won't see your entries. He slums here on FR. He really does.
It was 1991. My husband and I were driving somewhere. We were newlyweds. He turned on Rush. We have listened ever since. I’m pretty sure husband listened to Rush before then. Nowadays, we do not listen as much because we are otherwise occupied during Rush’s three hours. But when we find ourselves driving around during Rush’s show, we listen. It seems like when we lived in Arizona, Rush’s show was tape delayed there during part of the year. Maybe I am crazy and misremembering.
It was in ‘88, I was helping my grandfather with something and he had the radio tuned to the local talk radio station (WRKO). Listened to him off and on the rest of the summer right up until I joined the military. Only chances I had to listen after I joined was when I was home on leave, or for the short period of time he was on for an hour a day on AFN radio in Germany.
Today I happened to catch the first part of where President Trump called in, it made me think back to the first time I heard Rush.
During the LA riots...was scanning the radio for news and found this host(Rush) that was saying the exact same thing I was(no excuse for the madness)
In 1990 my husband told me about hearing him on the radio. I started listening, then saw him on TV on a late night show as a guest. The hostess was hateful, and I was appalled at how she treated him. I called into his show the next day and got on the air! I have been a faithful listener ever since.
1988. My boss said, hey you gotta listen to this guy! So I did. At first, as a woman, OH MY GOD! This guy is way out there...I mean, wow, he is REALLY outspoken and, man, he says stuff nobody else would dream of saying!
I fell head over heels. Ive been a loyal listener all these years. Cant stand to miss him. Hes a treasure.
Also, I went to Dans Bake Sale and was lucky for that opportunity to see him.
Now if Id just have the chance to marry him and live happily ever after things would be cool. Wait what?! Hes already taken. ;)
Congratulations to Rush! The real Great One!
1989. Was in the 4th grade and grandma picked me up after school. She was listening to Rush and he was doing a Condom Update and playing this song: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sQVLsvZcr34
Hey, Grandma whats that all about? She quickly turned off the radio and told me I didnt need to be listening to things like that. Ive listened ever since...
What does that mean?
KFI in SoCal....1988.
I was listening to the radio news and they were talking about Dan’s bake sale in Ft Collins(1993?). I lived in Denver then and still do. I thought this Rush Limbaugh guy must be pretty popular to have that many people show up in Ft Collins so I tried listening, totally expecting an extremist. I am still listening every day if possible and heard the call with DJT today. It was great!
Great idea for a vanity, by the way.
I was driving back from Illinois to Aurora, Colorado after visiting family for the 1991 Christmas holidays, with wife and kids in the car. It was the middle of the night and I was scanning the radio dial to find something to keep me awake. The Rush Limbaugh show for the day was playing on rerun. His voice hit me like an epiphany, and I was hooked. Here was something completely new; someone who unapologetically said the the things I believed, with confidence and humor. I have been a loyal fan ever since. Rush, if you are reading this, thank you, and know that I will be listening until you retire, or I give up the ghost.
I am an original listener. I heard Rush’s very first show on KFBK in Sacramento, in Oct. 1984. I remember “Charlie the socialist” also one of Rush’s original regular callers on the show (God rest his soul.)
He is still the mainstay of their programming, without Rush they are just another station on the AM band.
Tom Sullivan another KFBK’er from Rush’s time there, is now on Fox business, and Fox radio where he continues to host a program similar to his original program, although I am starting to think that he is slipping into more and more liberal points of view on some subjects. I think he is slowly being captured by NYC values, although I still have great admiration for him. His economic and financial knowledge is top notch.
LOL - Rush's always welcome here... slumming or not. What a good man - we've been bless he's had our back for decades. Conservatives would not be where we are without him. God Bless you Rush... you made the difference when it mattered.
1985. Stopped in with my Navy crew for an RON. Visited my parents and they were listening to Rush. Been a fan ever since.
Whenever was his first day on WGST (Atlanta). Bush was still President.
Anyway, he replaced a local guy and I was angry. Not just for that, but because it was a truncated (2 hour) show recorded the DAY BEFORE!
He said to give him 6 weeks before making a final judgement. I did.
It helped that they finally presented him LIVE and from 12:00-3:00. Been there ever since.
He was doing something he called "A caller abortion." He'd get someone calling in then with a toilet flushing sound effect playing, would hang up on the callers.
I discovered Rush in the summer of 1992. It was during the 1992 presidential race that I watched CNN celebrate the biggest anti American scumbag in the history of politics, Bill Clinton, I was beginning to think that America has left me behind. I realized that the whole media was left and I felt hopeless. Fortunately as I was driving through western Wyoming on my way to Florida I heard someone on AM radio talking about lesbian synchronized swimming and the olympics; it was Rush. I started to look for this guy everyday after. After a few weeks of Rush, I soon realized their were many just like me who were dying to hear someone in the mainstream media with a similar world view. Thanks to Rush, my morale drastically improved and I survived the Clinton years.
1992 Cape canaveral florida
Right after the g Gordon liddy show
I was mad when I first heard him
Then I couldnt stop
The first I heard Rush was in 1988 on the 50,000 watt flame thrower in Sacramento, KFBK. Bo Snerdly was good and later along came Dan Sullivan, the beautiful hispanic girl, Dan’s Bake Sale and a whole host of others. The libs tried to match him and every damn one of them folded.
Megga dittos, Rush
I became a listener in ‘93.
There’s no going back once yer hooked!
Off and on through the years, but for the last ten years or so, have had a desk job where I can listen during the day :)
