It says a summer student employee wrote the note in a misguided attempt to be lighthearted, and that the student has been removed from the project.
Oh, geez. Seriously? Doesn't ANYBODY have a sense of humor anymore?
To: McGruff
...the student has been removed from the project. For what? being a Trump supporter, obviously.................

Doesn't ANYBODY have a sense of humor anymore? Apparently not. Firing the kid is the height of humorless stupidity.

Given the incident at 5he golf course in Scotland, they should be over diligent.

We are a nation of ninnies, firing people over complete nothing incidents, canned outrage at everything, panic on demand.

and we are taking steps to standardize the labeling on these scientific instruments," NASA added. questions that need to be asked and answered include: How many of these balloon drops have been done in the past? How many were done in close vicinity to the location of the POTUS? When was the most recent drop before this one? Why wasnt there standardized labeling before now? Who authorized this drop?

I agree with you.
That Scotland incident could have ended very badly for The Donald and his supporters.

Just a symptom of the increasing fascism in the US that needs to be cut out.
Milan Kundera’s “The Joke” should be required reading now, but schools are too busy keeping kids stupid and confused about sex.
Plus, the left loves this kind of stuff so the book may actually be banned.

Actually he did a smart thing by writing on the package that it was NOT a bomb. Nobody else at NASA thought of that. I wonder how many times these things landed and some strip mall had to be evacuated?
To: Blogger
OK ... so they have some EOD guys diligently examine the thing, find out that it is in fact a NASA atmospheric research instrument and not a bomb, and return it to the NASA atmospheric research people who launched it. Too easy.

And they remove the student. Causing public panic and sending anything airborne towards POTUS is dumb. Not funny.

I know it was a joke, but how are people supposed to know? Next time something drops out of the sky, does someone have to get close enough to read the note to see if it says, “This is a bomb”?

That's on the kid's bosses, not him. They knew Trump was in the area but proceeded with an atmospheric experiment anyway.
