I don’t have time here to go into my 30 years of experience in Thailand, but I have known, very well, Thais ranging from bar girls and taxi drivers to close relatives of two Prime Ministers and a “socialite” who regularly attends functions where the current and prior King were in attendance. She’s an in-law of mine, in fact.
I worked there for two years and used private detectives to do undercover work which gave me a good insight into what sleaze goes on there.
There are certainly sleazy farangs in Thailand, but if you want to find local Thais catering to pedophilia you have to go looking for it, and you have to expend quite a bit of effort doing it. A casual tourist will never encounter it. A tourist going to the typical red light district such as Patpong or Pattaya will not encounter it. A tourist who goes to Patpong or Pattaya and asks for it is not going to encounter it.
